round the legs....Roby put Feka down everytime with it. Hit them fast and hard around the legs and they will not have time to offload. You are told this from the age of 7....too many people go high these days makes me laugh.
If you truly believe that then I am sorry, you know nothing. The main thing a tackler has to consider nowadays is how to stop the offload, it's become that important in the game. This means going high and hitting around the ball. Like it or not Lockers does it as well as anybody and other players would get praise for it. Some people just seem to have a grudge against him and I can't see why.

Best defender in our side bar none.
played for my country when I was 18...I may know a thing or 2. You do it right and hard they will go down far to quickly unless they are stood still. You should try it and then you will know what I mean.

Widness academy couldnt touch us mate......watch how many people offload when people go high then come back to me with the arguement, do it good and hard and they cannot offload if they do it will be uincontrolled.

By the same logic, Lockers is a current GB international, he may know a thing or 2.

I wasn't as fit or strong as before but my two biggest muscles still worked - my heart and my head - Kris Radlinski.

Likely Lad is telling you how it should be. There should be a progression in tackling technique from U7s through to open age. So what you tell a 7 year old is obviously different to what you tell an open age player.

By and large you can tackle low in most form of league because invariably the team with the ball turn it into 1 v 13 with one out charges. One out rugby is exacerbated by another little red herring that is perpetuated throughout junior rugby is the notion of standing 20 yards from the POTB and running onto the ball.

looked it when 2 people ghosted past him the ohter day for 2 tries. He backed up my argument a treat. The amount of penalties he gives away with his high shots back me up too. Cassidy mainly hit low and he was classed as the best defender at the club.

Pedro is you go high from the non ball carrying side they can still offload. Likewise if you go low they can and will offload. As an example Gareth Hock would crucify anybody going low or not trying to wrap the ball up. He did it v Widnes.

they went high as he went through them....thats why he runs at centres. Hit him low he wouldnt go anywhere like feka didnt against Saints when Roby came on.

Arghh this is what annoys me. Did Lockers miss 2 tackles that led to tries :exc:

The first try. Phil Bailey first up missed Gilmour, so Lockers was trying to make a secondary tackle after the line had been broken.

The try later. Lockers made a tackle. He is at the POTB. Roby scoots, lockers trails him. Gilmour runs a really intelligent line back off the inside shoulder of Roby. lockers stops to take the inside runner. I believe he should. Roby shows the ball to the inside runner and then goes straight past Barrett. The one fault Trent has in defence is that he over reads plays and that makes him jump out of the line on occasions. He mis read the play and roby beat him. He then waltzed past Withers.

Pedro, Feka made more yards than any other Wigan forward and won 90% of the contact in those tackles. So that says going low did not work.

only because no other forward went anywhere. When Roby came on he ran at feka and took his legs sweet he was down on a 6 pence.

He was only on for 30 mins aswell. watch it everytime someone goes low. The reason he made a lot of yards is when he ran at their big forward and they go HIGH....so yeah I am.
