at the start of the season Phelps was doing what Trent barret couldn't do while he was here, and that was tearing teams apart, he get's an injury and Amos (the man that nobody wanted in 09 but is know a folk hero)moves to FB and scores 1 or 2 more trys than he already scored on the wing and as usual the former player becomes poop and the player that came in to cover him is made into a golden god.
P.S last season i was one of a handful who had faith in the trio of Phelps Riddell & Roberts whilst the majority wanted them gone
P.P.S GP you are wrong about your theory concerning myself and CP

Phelps is not and has never been good enough for Wigan. He was always a stop gap signing. As for doing what TB can't do, you must be watching a different team from me!medlocke wrote:at the start of the season Phelps was doing what Trent barret couldn't do while he was here, and that was tearing teams apart, he get's an injury and Amos (the man that nobody wanted in 09 but is know a folk hero)moves to FB and scores 1 or 2 more trys than he already scored on the wing and as usual the former player becomes poop and the player that came in to cover him is made into a golden god.

What a strange post, even by your standards...medlocke wrote:at the start of the season Phelps was doing what Trent barret couldn't do while he was here, and that was tearing teams apart, he get's an injury and Amos (the man that nobody wanted in 09 but is know a folk hero)moves to FB and scores 1 or 2 more trys than he already scored on the wing and as usual the former player becomes poop and the player that came in to cover him is made into a golden god.

Must be watching a different team than me also. Phelps only played what 2, 3 matches at the start of the season v mediocre opposition and he was very ordinary. He got injured and part of the reason he gets injured is because he is physically weak. Amos who had been playing very well on the wing tore opposition, high class opposition apart in a way Phelps never could. Wire/Saints/Leeds etc. You will not find me criticising Roberts on here last season. To the contrary I bigged him up when we signed him. Why? You don't have that record in the NRL and not be a good player. Some good judges of players told me he was a good un. No good judge has ever told me Phelps was a good un. To the contrary.shaunedwardsfanclub wrote:Phelps is not and has never been good enough for Wigan. He was always a stop gap signing. The Trent comparison is embarassing

I thought exactly the same of Cameron Phelps on first impressions. He was knocked out in one of his first games like a boxer with a weak chin. Although I dont think he is a fantastic player, he has played reasonably well in most of his outings. Whether this justifies an overseas quota position, I doubt very much.cpwigan wrote:Must be watching a different team than me also. Like you I was very outspoken about Amos Roberts, and how much he would improve under better conditioning.
The answer is there to be seen, and I still say that in a footrace there arent many wingers faster than Amos was a couple of months ago.
Age slows you down, but this bloke was top drawer in australia, and he hasnt lost much of that level under Madge's control.
