Next year should sort it! :D
Lets hope so. My son is still buzzing. He said yesterday he keeps smiling to himself about the whole thing and despite mountains of homework he is just in a really happy frame of mind. He is obviously never going to forget this and I think that is great.

I think this is going to be the best off season ever as we all sit back and revel in the achievement not just because we won but because we deserved it and the team won it in style on back of a great season.

I genuinely think it would not be the same if we had spluttered through another on/off regular season but had nicked it in the final. The fact everyone including many Saints fans have said it is a well deserved success makes it all the better.

Moments to Remember:
1. 170 steps to walk up to the concourse of North Stand Tier 3, and was it worth it.
It sure was.
2. Faz going over the try line in the second half and me screaming to the kids "The match is won now".
The try was disallowed for obstruction and we couldnt see the screen from where we were sitting. We were gutted when we eventually realised but laughing at the same time.
3. The Wigan fan-base which took over Old Trafford singing "By far the greatest team the world has ever seen".
I had lost my voice by the end, but it was awesome for my girls first taste of a Wigan final.
4. Walking away from the ground on a quiet road leading to Trafford way and 3 drunken Saints shouting "and it will be another 12 years until you win your next trophey.
My eldest girl (13) replied, sharp as a button, "and it will be another 4 defeats before you will win your next trophey". I pissed myself laughing all along Trafford Way, back to the car.

In my mind I had us as an 8th position finish this season before Madge and the coaching staff were announced, and still thought this was another season from happening.
How good is it.
It is b**od* awesome to be a Wigan fan.

Stevo mentioned in commentary that it was probably one the best Grand Final tries hes seen and i have to agree with him.

We sat amongst all the wiganers in the east stand and you could see the perfect build up play to the try, Sam goading the defence and then stepping through and off loading to Deacon ? and then to Glesson to run in and score what for me was the best score of the night.

The TV does not do this try justice !!
I was in the same place as you. Soon as he went over I said it had to be a contender for Try of the Season! :D

Thought every player played out of their skins and deserve all the accolades given to them this season.

Thought Gleeson was at his very best which was great to see.

Goulding is a player that keeps impressing me. Intelligent and determined, his tackling improves with every game and his monster hit [on Lomax?] right before the end was one of my favourite moments.

The greatest moment for me was seeing James Graham playing first reciever in the last 10 minutes, the fattest half back since Owen Cragie for Widnes. What about chanting to the Wino's 'Youre not champions anymore' must be a close second if we are talking about moments of the season.

Another favourite moment was walking past the a sheepish memorabilia stall trader by the bridge on the walk home packing away a huge batch of St Helens grand final winners t-shirts but no Wigan ones. Woops..... look out for them being used at a car wash near you.

Still not seen the sky coverage, does anyone know a way to get hold of the match? Are Micron/the club releasing a dvd?

Well, it's so hard to pinpoint a favourite moment, because it was all fantastic.

It was amazing that we went to Wigan and it was packed with Warriors Fans, we went to Manchester it was packed with Warriors we went to Old Trafford, packed with Warriors... I couldnt beleive how few saints fans were there.

Interesting being likened to Ron Jeremy outside the Oyster Bar though.....

Diana Vickers was crap, so much so i even shouted "get off, yer s**t" at one point... The MC must've been on comission for the number of times he could fit "Theatre Of Dreams" into his dialogue!

The wife & i have discussed the game at length... and the highlight for us was Sammy's try, his arm seemed to come from nowhere and grow an extra foot for that try... And, of course that countdown.

The wife is a new RL fan and new Wigan fan having moved up this way from Wales, but she took great pleasure in singing We Are The Champions!

The celebrations were halted for Saturday Night with thanks to GMPTE who couldn't be bothered laying on any extra train services meaning we were stuck with the last train home...

Back out on Sunday for the home coming though.. highlight on that was Tommy Lulu hanging off the back of the bus, can of fosters in one hand, trophey in the other, looking a little red eyed and tremendously drunk!

All in all a massively awesome weekend! Absolutely brilliant to be singing the old favourites again and may they be sung for many years to come! Wigan Warriors are thhe greatest team in the world!

Abide with Me is the Wembley Hymn but Jerusalem has been sung as long as there's been finals. i'd have it as the National Anthem but certainly wouldn't be sung by a Welshman
Totally agree, I've never figured out why England sing the British national anthem when Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own.
In fact surely the current Commonwealth games, every winner should have God Save the Queen played ?

Jerusalem is a controversial hymn or whatever people want to call it. It has been banned from churches / services periodically and it has little or no reverence to God etc. It is too nationalistic, talking repeatedly of England when RL encompasses Great Britain. It is even anti towns and cities and praises the countryside ad infinitum. RL was born in those towns and cities. It is currently being used in the Commonwealth much to the dismay of many competing.

If people want something lively, try Land of Hope and Glory, Rule Britannia etc etc.
