Like you i would not want to sell my best assets but if money is available and the offer is right then can wigan refuse it.
Why not? The club is in profit, they said they didn't need the oney from Farrell. There is no law that says because a club enquires about a player you have to sell him.
I dont agree that wigan dont need the money, yes they have Dave Whelan but he has been our owner for number of years now and has not really pumped thousands into player purchases again because of the salary cap, also please dont think that just because wigan announce a £110k profit they are suddenly flush with cash, this will just be a figure on there Profit and Loss accounts sheet.
I think you have to go with what the club say. They say they didn't need the money regarding Farrell and would rather have the player. The profit is a good thing but there is a limit to what Whelan can put in anyway because of the Salary cap. Pre Farrell's departure we probably didn't have any room on the cap so how could Whelen put money in?

It goes back to what I said about replacing players like Carney. It is very difficult these days to do that so it is not a question of can they afford not to sell him but the opposite. Selling him, it could be argued reduces the chance of success as the team will be weaker. Lack of success could mean reduced gates andless money.
And that money will have been spent in other areas like wages etc.
The profit is what is left AFTER all costs have been met.
At the end of the day none of us know how much input the coach has to buying and selling players i would like to think that denis betts has the freedom to tell Mo who he wants and not the other way around. But the jury is out on that one.

As for the GB team again i dont agree the potential world cup in a few years will probably be like the last one with the home nations playing. But again weve all said it international rugby needs a higher profile particularly if we are to compete with RU and hope to develop enough to one day beat the aussies at that level
Mo signs the players and as for the GB thing, splitting into home nations is Richard Lewis idea and is on the cards. The next tri-nations is scheduled as the last for GB.

 Sounds like the old Rats and Ship analogy, we need to show some ambition by bringing in a couple of big name players soon, or we will lose, Carney, Radlinsky, and a new one now being talked about....Newton.
These players wnot't stay if we continue to slide, I posted this topic a few weeks ago !!!

Rads isnt for sure he just said he would like to go, but if he leaves make newton captain hes chuffed to bits being vice captain.....dont talk stupid about losing newton he loves wigan and we arent stupid enough to sell a guy whos that good and dont bring faz into this, he wanted to go

Radlinski would stay if we went down to the third decision, do not put him in the same category as a glory seeker, its a pure insult towards a great player.

 Radlinski will leave at the end of the season, he will be named captain of the new French club, Carney's move to Souths will be announced in the next month or so, and I doubt he will play many games for us this season, he's going to be given another chance in 2 weeks, if the injury returns it's op time again, the guys a liability he's taking up one of our squad places.
The Newton rumour started in the close season, and if Rads and Carney go so will Newton, he won't stay in a below average team !!

Then we're going to make all the young lads play in the Academies, we're selling our remaining older players to Widnes and Wigan RLFC will wind up. You heard it here first!

Is that before or after the whole economy of the world collapses and we're all wiped out by a mass plague?
