Find it quite entertaining that fans are getting so upset over the departure of an average player at best, it's a sad state of affairs when a club like Wigan has a player of such standard classed as their best, when in the past we have had such greats as Tuigamala, Renouf, Ashton, Connolly, Bell, Carmont etc, the club and coaching staff know what they are doing, so not really bothered my self, Gelling and Thornley will do the business in the future, they just need to be given some time to grow into their roles, i seem to remember certain fans rattling on for several seasons that Goulding had to be given a chance, he got that chance and has gone as far as he can at Wigan.

Rads is a yes man / a lacky. Plenty to say before being given a job, NOW nothing of merit.
This is so true. Rads is Lenagan's stooge and no more.

How about straight after the WCC when Shaun Wane mentioned that he wanted the side to be bigger & stronger, maybe he's sees Daz as a weak point in the side. It would also explain why Rocky isn't featuring as much as people thought

Goulding has always been one of Wane's favourites and Wane wanted to retain Goulding. If you think this has anything to do with Wane you are barking up the wrong tree. Wane doesn't hold the purse strings.

I'm just saying Shaun said he wanted a bigger side

Really disappointed.
The partership between Daz and Josh was something special IMO. They did work so well together.
If Gelling is to replace Goulding then he has a hard act to follow. Barnstorming runs are fine provided the opening is created for the wingman. This is something Gelling has to learn. Goulding had it practiced to a fine art.
Mistake by the club IMO.
IMO Goulding should have stayed, Bowen gone and Sarginson or Hampshire to full back. Thereby keeping our best young talent and the ability to pay them well.

Some fans are fickle, not too long ago shouting for him to be selected for tests now he's a championship player.

I don't see Bowen as a financial barrier to retaining anyone. The only players who I'd consider truly top class enough to demand a big wage besides him are Josh, Joel T, Lockers and Micky Mac with possibly Faz as well (but I'm not convinced he is a particularly high earner). We might have to pay more to keep Taylor as well and we should but other than that the younger players just are not yet worth top drawer wages.
I just can't see where all the money is going such that Wigan could not match an offer for Goulding who is only 26.
Furthermore he came through the ranks here and so is supposedly one of those players that would help IL have a team made up mostly of home grown talent. Now we have two centres in Gelling and Sarginson who were never part of the junior set up here and are pretty average players in the centres to boot.
How have we got to a stage where players we sign are of average ability and at least one of them looks to be pencilled in as 1st choice centre while at the same time letting Goulding go?

Can't say that I blame Daz for going though I will miss him.Little value placed on him by the club.Sargison is never going to make it as a centre in a million years. Centre is such a specialized position it needs someone special to fill the position.Sadly much as I like Sargison he does not light up my tree as a future centre.Decent enough utility player.Get George Carmont out of the moth balls.

you talk about average players then say Thornley and Gelling will do the business, them two are still striving to be average.
how many games has Gelling had since he's been here, not that many, remember if he wasn't getting first grade games he wasn't playing, i'd like to see how Goulding would have done under the same circunstances, just face facts, you and others are wrong about Goulding, if the club don't think hes good enough for the money hes on then he isn't, next year will show how average he is and many won't be impressed
