Just dug out the Martin Offiah Story. Damn he could change direction and swerve without slowing down and therein is why he was so much better than some speedsters. He also carried the ball in one hand but still used it when running (hope that makes sense :) )

He was brilliant and his defence wasn't brillaint but it didn't matter. let in one try and he'd just score 3 more. Plus the team we had back then was amazing with the Likes of Inger on the bench.

Offiah's only real mistake was prolonging his career, it got a bit embarressing in the end. I remember one game he played against us whilst at Salford, he took a kick on his 20m line on one side of the pitch, ran in a straight line to avoid the chasers... and promptly headed straight into touch at the opposite side of the pitch still on the 20m line having made no progress forwards down the pitch at all! A bit sad to see a great player end up that way, his time at Salford didn't really do him any favours at all.

Players that have been at the top and have won all the stuff availiable should just retire when they leave the club. Why go to a lower team club where they probably wont win anything and have lost most of their skill and speed and will start to look average at best
Er.... For the money?

If he isn't the fastest ,he surely is one one of the bravest to play the Game

how can people say that dallas is faster becuase he caught somebody in defence. think about it whats faster ball in hand or without? in chasing somebody in defence u can put ur head down and ful on sprint but with ball in hand its harder just think about it lads

Yeah but somebody like Offiah or somebody like Edwards should not need the money

If we are talking about raw pace please don't insult me by mentioning Edwards.

One reason Offiah was so quick was he could carry the ball and still use that arm in a running motion. Only huge mistake I ever saw him make was v NZ when he dropped the ball as he was putting it down for a try.

For raw speed surely Gary Henley Smith. Not much good as a rugby player but certainly fast.

I bet Ray Mordt was fast over 100 metres too

Agree 100 percent with the post about Dallas being one of the bravest in Super League. Not ONE, of the bravest, Brett is THE, bravest!
