Say you were looking after a friends child of for arguments sake 10years of age. You decide to go to the park and there are some 18 year old playing rugby near you. One of the lads decideds as he is running past to shoulder barge "as a laugh" the 10 year old and sends him flying on the floor - he isn't hurt. Would you think that act should go unpunished? Or that it was normal or just because the lad was "playing a prank" it's fine?
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure

Every incident is different. Anybody who takes a child to a busy park understands children jostle and push from time to time, one off harmless stuff is ignored. If it is repeated and/or with intent then it would be treated differently.
If you intervene in every single incident in a busy park then you would go crazy and probably get in strife yourself.
Gaz Hock was stupid, nobody is arguing otherwise and nobody is arguing that should not to be penalised. I maintain, the response was disproportionate OTT.
IMO this opinion of what Hock did is a bit weird. To the point where I find process by which you have come to the conclusion that knocking over the referee deliberately is a moment of crazy fun as slightly worrying.
If he'd done it to a member of the crowd, woudl that be crazy fun or a joke?
I agree. More often than not I tend to agree with CP, but he has me baffled on this one.
Would it have been deemed a "joke" if it had been comitted by Bailey, Westwood or Elima, ?. I think not.
As for Gaz Hock, an old phrase frequently comes to mind.
"You can't knock nowt where there is nowt"
