Good news is field isn't injured was never playing tonight Duffy says was never backing up 2 close games coming back from injury wrapping him up in cotton wool and will be good to go Saturday at Leeds. But have to say his under study eckersley is looking every bit a piece of gold.
His vision for the Wardle try in the first half was brilliant, spotted a gap on the left hand side and opened play up.

good solid performance
94% completion rate in 1st half, with only the thompson knock on and that was damned unlucky as he'd won the right to a quick potb, but got a bit giddy :) :)

2nd half, i think there was only 2 errors, so slightly lower completion rate, and we did what we needed to do given the commanding half time lead

overall a much improved performance given we are missing our 1st choice 1, 6 & 9, but it shows if we keep hold of the ball and build pressure that not many sides will keep with us

on a slightly funnier note, i've just listened to Junior's post match interview. question - are you all off to Total Fitness for a swim recovery tomorrow. Junior, yes, but i cant swim :) with a smile on his face

For Marshalls breakaway in the second half, the one where he got caught and looked like should have passed.
Anyone else think the referee was in the way? For me he was right where Marshall wanted to pass and so couldnt

I must confess that when I looked at the line-ups, I thought we might well lose. What I forget was that Leigh coached by Adrian Lam look like Wigan coached by Adrian Lam. Fortunately, Leigh aren't my problem but there were so many things wrong there that were wrong last time we played them. Nothing on the last tackle etc.etc.
That's enough about them because we were pretty good without ever having to go into top gear, Liked the idea of playing Hampshire in the halves and reducing any likely errors by not giving him the ball that often. I'm going to be charitable and assume that Mago picked up an injury because he looked completely immobile before during and after Leigh scored their try - nice to see him walk in for that first-half try though. Surprised to see him come back for nine minutes at the end.
Wardle's try was the kind of try you pay good money to see - quick thinking by Nsemba - slick passing and great support play.
On to Leeds (minus Cameron Smith which is a bonus) and let's hope we can move further clear. although Sky won't show a league table because the wrong team is ahead.
Smart tactics again from MP and his team.

Thought it was a good solid performance from us and much improved in defence. The completion rate was good and we've cut down loads on the handling errors. The props played much better with Thompson being the best of the bunch, also thought Mago has improved from previous weeks. Only negative forwards wise was Dupree, apart from one good run he doesn't look right to me. Carrying an injury possibly? I'd give him a rest for a week. Back at the top as we should be. Onto dirty leeds!

We were much more willing to move the ball when the opportunity came and to take a few risks last night.

I think we had looked very conservative since losing Field/French and looking like we didn't believe we could win without them.

Agree Re Dupree. Also Hill looked massively unfit. He was blowing out his arse after 5 mins. Nice to see him score but soon after that he was flapping missing a tackle which lead to a break. I'm a big fan of Hill and I do think he will be a top prop in the next few years, but I was very unimpressed with his standard of fitness considering he didn't play a minute in the first half.

I agree Hill didn't look right. He's a big lad, but he's not really playing his weight.

True, but he hasn't had enough game time, he always played long minutes for Reserves/Academy so if that is addressed, he'll be reet.

He’d only been on for 7 or 8 minutes and his lungs were hanging out.
He’s either unwell, or has a serious fitness problem. Youngster or not, he shouldn’t be that gassed in such a short time.
MP saw it and hauled him off.
