not read the entire of this thread but IMO richards is doing great, just makes a few mistakes like last night.
True, him turning up was a mistake last night. I'm with those who have been less than impressed overall this season. I'm not really concerned as to whether he has been one of the better players in the team or not, it's not difficult to be better than some of the others in the team, but he's certainly not been the star player many expected to see.

Maybe tonitghts performance should settle this one ! Richards was awful tonight
A couple of poor calls and misreading a bounce of a rugby ball could happen to any winger. On the basis of the whole season hes been ok so lay off lol.
I agree hes had a very bad game last night and at least we won.

Good thing is we won and did not play well they will not be complasent against the Wolves now i hope.

Mike, calderwood has played half and now a full U21s game. He is full fit. On Saturday he was turning and running down the likes of Briscoe for the 21s

On that basis alone Richards was opting for safety first approach without realising where the ball was landing on a slippery surface. Whereas i agree with you it's his fault, it's still a bit harsh because Orr should have shouted too and claimed it.
Quite simply it was not Richards fault at all that the kick off went out on the full.

Or should have caught it. He was in front of Richards, it was heading down his throat and he let the ball bounce which is criminal.

Richards had a poor game but if we start blaming him for things that were not his fault then that is when all logic goes out the window and before long everything bad about the team will be down to him.

Dave
You can't say it wasn't Richards's fault as we don't know what communication there was between the two players. Richards may have called for Orr to leave it, Orr may have decided to leave it for Richards too late. We have no way of knowing from watching the match whose fault it was, it was a team comminication error.

Scott Logan could turn and catch Briscoe!

100% Richard's fault. Orr was going to go for it, and Richards shouted for him to leave it. So he did. As did Richards....:conf:
I'm not sure how you can come to that conclusion confidently considering no-one was in the North Stand and only those two player know what communication there was, if any, between the two of them.
actually, if you replay the footage, danny orr was mostly to blame. richards didnt shout anything as the camera doesnt lie and his mouth did not move. orr was going for it but when he realised it ahd gone over his head he left it for his winger who wasnt expecting it. pat was to blame for the howler though and was also to blame for the kick.

what about the last try though?

That's not the player we signed at the start of the season, Or is it?

For Friday keep the same team but ditch richards for calderwood. Richards isn't up to it. (personaly i don't think Noble likes Calderwood because even when he was great for leeds he didn't get the call up for GB)
