Based on something I have just been emailed....it's a done deal :(

Here is the latest re what I know
MM had a meeting with the players yesterday morning, one of the players asked MM in front of all the players,

"Are you leaving?"

MM told the players that

"He has had no OFFERS FROM ANY OTHER CLUB, NOT IN ENG/AUS."
Now on that basis I think we have to accept MM's word until proved otherwise.

It could not be Ste. Had Bennett chose Souths and not Newcastle, there was never a job.

So why didn't he end Press speculation at yesterday's conference?

Why does the club insist on this "No comment" all the time then?

Every time there is speculation over something ie; Gleeson, this is the response. To be honest I think the Gleeson affair came about at just the right time & was an adequate smokescreen - for a little while, but now the cat's out of the bag.

I believe the person who has told me that it is "a done deal", he has been right over so many things before.

I previously was told everything was oke dokey & Madge was still at the club, but I think it was instead of saying "No Comment"!!!

I've said it before when something is not right behind the scenes it always shows in the performance on the pitch & not just in our sport. Whether the players are paid professionals or not it will always affect them.

I just wish someone had the balls to say one way or another whats going on.
the rumour and anti rumour is doing no body any favours a simple yes he is or no he isnt would be preferable to this school yard conjecture

KW I have no idea although isn't he just following the party line? Maybe he will go. If so he lied to his own players. I do not buy into he signed for Souths weeks ago. If Bennett had said Crowe I am your man where would that leave MM? A legal dispute? Even 24 hrs before he decided, Crowe/Souths were still desparate to get Bennett and given the choice, every NRL club would choose him over MM.

Josie, I can only think it comes from the very top of the club. CEOS change but that policy doersn't. I used to speak with Mick Hogan and he always replied to any rumour with the Wigan cliche; it is not our policy to comment on rumours. If the owner insists on that policy then what do you do?

Already the statement re Gleeson looks silly. Did it not say something about needing a break from the game, thereafter we have training with Barrow, deal with Hull until the end of the season, go to Australia.
