Come on Barney, that’s like saying if we don’t drop the ball and give away penalties then we win easily. Our forwards dominated their pack.
Our pack was immense your right and over the moon for win but our half back combination just isn’t working for me and it’s a worry.
My point being I’m not sure we score them tries playing against 13 men.
Ok mate. I’m not sure anyone scores a try against us if we have a high completion rate and cut out the penalties. HKR never looked like breaking our line last night. Top teams find a way to win.

It was Mago’s best game for some time but I thought our pack collectively won us that game, their counterparts were dominated. Luke Thompson was outstanding with, and without, the ball. Nsembe, what can you say about this young man. People keep saying he is going to be a superstar, I have news for them he already is. On another evening we win that match comfortably we just didn’t execute like we normally do.

I think our resilience and determination or sheer will to win were tremendous, but am not sure if we'd have won without the 2 sin binnings. Still, I accept refs' decision when they go against us, so am happy to do the same tonight. "Look in tomorrow's paper "

I've already said that Wardle was my MoM, but Paddy M definitely turned the game round, and lifted the whole team. Junior had his best game for us, and Marshy and Field deserve mentions too. Bevan is coming back to his normal, outstanding form - I hope Harry Smith follows suit. Forber impressed at times, but understandably has things to learn, particularly on discipline.

Finally, Thompson should be given a match off next week - he was good, but not his best, and too much has been asked of him this year at 60 to 80 minutes a match for many games - give him a break, we need him for the GF.
Thompson, 45 tackles only one missed, 16 carries for 122 metres, 6 tackle busts. That's not good it's outstanding.

I never listen to Sky - just turn the sound off, watch the game and listen to Joe Mills & Bilko, neither of whom had their best night in commentary.
I posted elsewhere about the truly awful refereeing but was impressed by us lasting the whole game and not just 60 minutes as HKR seemed to do.
Can't understand who Tanginoa didn't get a red for that 'tackle' - it seemed so obvious and as for players staying down, if that's what it takes to stop foul head tackles, then I hope more do so. It needs to be out of our game and useless referees don't help. Having said that, he didn't buy any of Lewis's playacting so that was his sole good bit of work.
I do love our left side which is always terrific to watch (be brave Waney and play Marshall, Wardle, Nsemba and Smith together for England, why don't you?) I though Miski had his best game for a while and I also thought Dupree looked better than in his last few outings. While Mago did very well in his 14 minute cameo, surely Nsemba should have got MOM for his 80 minute display. I haven't seen many players pick Minichella up and throw him to the ground. Thompson is awesome and Havard the unsung hero.
To win against the other top side in SL with Field, French (apart from the assist and THAT try) and Smith all a bit rusty and/or out of sorts was impressive in the end.
Still concerned about Leeming's defence and Eckersley on the bench would be a better option than the unused Byrne.
And something has to be done about the tactic pioneered by Leeds and used by HKR of having virtually all your team offside at the kick bur advancing up the field so the receiver can only make 10 yards. Stretching it to give the receiver 20 yards might work but as it stands, it's so negative and spoils the game.

Hi Barney, your post got a bit of come-back, but keep them coming. I like reading the thoughts/opinions of people who are capable of thinking outside of the box and even acknowledging that the opposition might have been good.

Unfortunately, it seems that social media gives everyone a voice, and the simplistic black-or-white views, the ref blamers, "we woz robbed" types can easily dominate.

I thought that overrall the decisions favoured us, but, as I said earlier, I accept the ref's judgement when it's against us, so am happy to go with it when it's in our favour.

I'm a bit surprised by some of the negativity and the 'we wouldn't have won if' .........comments. First, top of the table clashes should be tight, unpredictable and competitive, as this was. It was a very good game of rugby. We had a relatively short turnaround, with travel, after a draining game in France late on Saturday. By the end of last night's game I thought our forwards were absolutely dominant, which is testament to their recovery, fitness and desire. The post game narrative was always going to be about the Warriors scoring against 12 men but frankly I don't care about that - we've suffered a lot from similar decisions this season (as have most clubs). The fact is we are still in a position to take advantage in the league table to take advantage when the opposition have to deal with that. So, I'm made up with that win - but we'll need to keep up the intensity for the next two games and into the play-offs. Leeds and Salford will both have lots to play for!!

Why is this suddenly a Wigan issue . Miski should demand an apology . As for Dupree exactly same as Ellis and he got a ban bet theres no KR ban
100%.

First time I have seen Wigan "play to the rules" with regard to this.

Willie Peters has gone down a lot in my estimation. Is he serious? Lewis practically invented the art of "staying down".

Sour grapes from Peters. Clearly it was their Grand Final. I can see them falling away now.
Sour grapes from Willie Peters indeed.
You have to learn how to handle a loss with dignity to be a top Coach. A bit to go methinks.
What really annoyed me was Peters questioning the ethos and integrity of the Wigan RL Club. Honesty is at the heart of who we are.

Shame, because I liked Willie.

You do realise that was the first time Smith and French had played together in months and the first time with Field since the CC final? How can you say "it's not working"? That just doesn't make sense. It can't be working if it doesn't exist. Was it working earlier in the season when we were sweeping all before us?
