no - the context in which you use language has an effect upon what is acceptable in terms of its application. Using text language is just an example of a particular idiom - the contractions and syntaxical manipulation are used to save time and space in a post. I can apprieciate how people sometimes struggle to understand its use, but to say that someone should 'invest in more education' or whatever just because they use a form of shorthand or contractions is rubbish!!! Its use here, in a particular context, does not in anyway mean our English language is being degraded! Some great works of poetry and literature invlove disregard for some punctuation rules, or contractions.
You've said that before!

I have said on this board before - I have a grandson who is dyslexic and can appreciate the fact that there are those who cannot spell, but there is no reason why you cannot use commas, capital letters and full stops where appropriate. Please be proud of our English language. I know people from other countries who have a far greater knowledge of our language than some on this board. I suggest that with your high wage you might invest in further education!!

err..it's more of a defense, really. I'm not calling you a great poet or writer, just so we're clear...unless you have hidden talents and write under a pseudonym: hehe - mike binder = ??

I see little point in posting messages that few can understand, or have to spend an inordinate amount of time trying to decipher.
fair enough, I do understand what you mean, but putting 'u' instead of 'you', and 'wot' instead of 'what' should cause uproar. I know it's just lazy, but it's hardly a sin. Just didn't like the tone of 'go get a decent education!'; after all, isnt there only Carney in the Wigan team with some sort of a degree??
The other issue to remember is that the internet is universal. People in the rest of the world aren't necessarily going to understand "u wot", to expand your example. You (as in, most people on here) might assume that only people who speak Wigan-English are going to read this, but it ain't necessarily so. Or more possibly, there may be people "reading" the website using other technology such as voice-technology if they've got sight problems. Any accessibility tools are going to struggle like mad to understand text speak, it'll be bad enough for the machines to read out player names or our usernames letter-by-letter.

It'd be interesting to see which countries we get visitors from, another very specialised website community I'm part of has visitors from all over the world from countries I've never even heard of!
And expanding on that Mike could get in trouble if there was, for example somebody with eyesight problems or whatever the correct political term is, if they can't access the site or read the information in any way there have been cases where people have sued. They probably won't but you don't know these days! Think about it this way though, writing in abbreviated language where it's not needed (eg on here) secludes me because I have to re read that passage until I understand it, so if it's secluding me who has perfect vision and a very good understanding of the English language then think of how many other people it's secluding.

Primrose and Blue
Do Warrington have a fans website or are there not enough fans to start one off. Relegation is a possibility but we won't go down and I look forward to 9th July when we take revenge on the Wolves. Oh and lets see if you can actually bring more than a coach load of fans and out sing the Warriors like we did at your place.

We took a good number that day didn't we, especially since we weren't really doing that well at the time. People seem to be getting at PnB, he (you are a he yes?) does come on here and talk some sense sometimes!

I'll forgive you this time!

They bring no more than any other team! Of course they're gonna bring a few to Wigan, they're a local team! And like any other team they're no noisier if they're losing!!
