Ben Thaler - Thoughts!!!!!

Post by turf »

Thought he had a fair game tonight, was consistant in his penalties and kept them low.

He was right on EACH occasion when he went to the VR to do so, he also kept a fair/good 10 between the sides, (so we got some open play), and had a fairly good game, in what looked like a busy night for young Thaler in a big game.

I would say a big :eusa2: for Thaler tonight.

He seemed ok missed 1 or 2 things but did anyone else feel that Ganson was looking for a reason not to give the 1st try.

Ganson was ok tonight, he correctly disallowed the 1st try - Colbon's foot was in touch.

He took so long with the second try because he was looking for a knock on and whether or not if it came off Colbon last.

I don't mind VR's taking a time, as long as they get it right and that is the most important thing as far as the game of RL is concerned.

leeds were most of the time offside and video ref ganson takes too long to make desisions and when he does make them they are wrong

yes but it is frustrating when it's an obvious try... downward pressure = try... the play immediately before it was in no doubt faultless.

Thought he was average at best.

I watched on Sky and he made a fair few errors with ball stripping. The Fletcher penalty was ridiculous as was the Lockers/Bailey knock on.

Bailey (leeds one) got away with leading with a raised knee a couple of times and both sides rarely stood square at the POB. The 10 was very skinny and he missed Thackery's late hit on Lulu. Both sides had a couple of flops that he missed.

In short: better than ganson - and I think that we all know what that's worth.

Mediocre BUT consistent for both teams. Poor 10.

I don't think we could expect Thaler to have had a near perfect game tonight.

It was his first REAL big game and to be fair (except the mistakes) he handled it well (or at least better than Silverwood did at their place in the League).

He can learn from these errors though and improvw on them, just in case Thaler gets another big game next week.

Utterly incompetent. Felt he didn't need the video ref for any of the decisions, but that's only a minor point - we need the drama for sky don't we?
