i would just like to go on record and thank dave furner for his dedication, performance and passion for the wigan club and supporters in the past 2 years, it is refreshing to see an aussie give his all for a club and its fans, rather than just for the "retirement bonus"

Furner the best Aussie

Post by Mike »

I thought Furner would be excellent when we signed him. All in all, he has lived up to expectations. Against Cas he and Terry O'Connor led by example and were inspirations for the rest of the team.

I for one would have preferred Maurice to release Ainscough from his second year and use the saving to keep Furner. Maybe we have a signing lined up that means this wouldn't be possible, or perhaps we are just too far over the salary cap to recruit anyone, even after letting Furner go.

the only reason we hav still got ainscough is because maurice wants to keep him cos he dont count as an aussie due to his passport! this is a load of bull and we hav plenty of young centres who could come threw, if not sign a new player it would cost us half the price cos hes an ex test player his proce doubles?

i've not seen him do anything this year. but its the same with the majority of the aussie's. we've got a brilliant youth system at the moment tho. lets try and not sell them all this time and in a few years we'll have a blindin team, with no aussie's.
