Bad result for us. A Bulls win would have probably led to Saints winning the minor prem before they play Wigan and fielding a weak team.
Not sure what Bentham did is even legal. My understanding is you can only go to the video referee when a try is scored. Not that it was a penalty try

I thought Bentham had a fair game personally.
Can someone please explain to me why Phil Clarke was trying to say that it was not a penalty try?

The Leeds player was struggling to keep hold of the ball, he was juggling with it and at best when he lost the ball he was holding the bottom 1/3rd. Now in the field of play if you run with the ball away from your body or try to pass out of the tackle, it is deemed a loose carry. So in this example it was no different. The ball carrier has a respnsibility to hold the ball securely according to Cummings.
When the ball steal rule was first introduced, players started to release the ball deliberately whemn they knew an opponent had their hand on the ball. This resulted in penalties. The ruling was changed to reflect this gamesmanship.

He also gave a 1 v 1 strip as a penalty beforehand

Was the video referee, Richard Silverwood righ to give the penalty try then?
Thanks cpwigan by the way for explaining that rule.
That penalty for an alledged ball steal was never a penalty in the memory of man, what was Bentham thinking?!
Bentham however did have a better game than he did with Wakefield v Hull FC the other week (remember with a sin binning - athon)

The video referee deemed that the Leeds player had the ball and that the Bradford player reefed it out.
Personally my view is that it was a loose carry BUT hey I am just a fan and as they say, read it in the paper tomorrow.

Funny you should look at it like that. I was thinking that if Leeds won, there would be a possibility that we could deny stains the league leaders shield on the last day of the season. Whilst we won't win anything this season - it would be nice to deny them! It could have been ML's leaving present!

i thought it was a bad decision.
it can be argued that platt (legend for punching fa'asavalu) was trying to collect the loose ball. i looked and thoguht, he hasn't gone to steal it, he's trying to stop diskin from grounding the ball by holding his arms up, then the ball came free because diskin didn't have full control. i don't think it warranted a PT.
