Where Is Ashley Klein Based????

Post by turf »

I have bought a few papers in the last few weeks and they have all said different things, i.e:

Referee - Ashley Klein (Silsden)

Referee - Ashley Klein (Keighly) (spelling?)

I am asking this because it is hard to know which SL club is his "hometown team" so to speak.

Sometimes the papaers say:

Referee - Richard Silverwood (Muirfield)

Referee - Richard Silverwood (Dewsbury)

In which case (preauming Muirfield is near Dewsbury) then Silverwood's hometown team is Huddersfield isn't it??

Why isn't his hometown team Dewsbury? Or Mirfield itself? There's RL in both places, so why should we assume he's got any allegiance to the nearest Superleague team? Indeed, Mirfield's also closer to Batley (where there is of course another NL club) than Huddersfield so I don't think there needs be any link between him and Huddersfield at all.

As for Klein, Silsden is near Keighley, so he'd be a Cougar if he weren't an Aussie.

What's this obsession with "hometown referees" all of a sudden? I know the rules changed this year to allow Ganson to refereee St Helens despite having previously been in the Saints supporters club, but they don't all come from places with SL clubs...

There is no obssession with hometown referees Fraggle.

I was just asking out of interest because this rule confuses me when you get two individuals like the two mentioned above. :conf: :conf:

So Huddersfield is not the hometown club of Silverwood and Harlequins is NOT the hometown club of Klein.

His "hometown team" would then be Harlequins if what you say warrior till i die is correct.

The matter IS butt monkey that if Klein is from London (as has been stated on Sky) then Harlequins IS his hometown team.

That MAY have been important in the past.

With the new rules introduced this season, regarding referees and home town clubs - it matters not one jot anymore! :D
