Re: Darrell Goulding

Got a hot rumour from a source inside the club, or just something you heard down the pub? Then what are you waiting for, post it on The Rumour Mill.

Goulding is treated very poorly by Noble but in part that may be a lack of assertiveness on his part.

i don't think he is particularly good, but at 21 he can get better yet - maybe a loan would be more suitable, but then we would have to play phelps/mathers if we get injuries in the backs...

I think Darrell Goulding is a good youngster who has come through the ranks and we need more of them in the side, players who want to and are proud of playing for their home town. Not these over payed, under performing overseas players. He gets treated so badly, he plays one week, bench or dropped the next. The poor lad wont know weather he is comming or going. There no way he should go on loan or leave, he will become another player who comes round and bites us in the ass like Robinson, Briscoe, Brown, Wild, Aspinwall.

One of the keys for me is that we do not have any centres emerging other than Goulding who we know and Ian Thornley who is 17. Ignore Stefan Marsh who IMO is a winger or a full back. Trent certainly had a lot of time Goulding.

Pryce, if he ever gets fit, will probably be ahead of him in the queue (if not, presumably his contract won't be extended). We have Bailey, Carmont and Pryce all out of contract at the end of this season. Goulding is contracted for 2 more years after this one.

Here is an interesting notion though. Goulding misses tackle and fans particularly on another forum jump all over him. George Carmont has missed 9 last time I checked this season and not a murmur from those very same people.

It dos not mean George is a bad player BTW but nor is Goulding.

Goulding and O'carol are Nobby's easy option, if we play bad he has normally droped one of them , with Sam defending out wide it would give him half a chance Smith was the one who should have made way . Dont get me wrong Im not sure yet as to how good Goulding is but neither can anyone else the lads only just starting out.

I agree Lucky re if Sam is in the team and defending right side it lessens Goulding's opportunities. I think Tommy should be moved to the right personally. However, as you say, nobody knows how good / bad Gouding can be what we do know is that from his brief career he has a very good try record and appearance wise look liked he had worked hard pre season.

I just sense on another internet planet he has become this season's fall guy.

Yeah, they bite their old team on the ass, I think thats the key. There's nothing I see when they play other opposition that makes me think we've dropped a betty swollock letting them go.

I cant make my mind up about Goulding; sometimes he looks like the real-deal but other times looks lacking. I guess the only real way of finding out is more games but I just can't see him getting a chance without some injuries.

I'd say a loan would do him good.
