Why?

Post by MrsLam »

I understand the signing of Ruben Wiki would solve the retiring forwards problem, but why are we buying another centre? Unless it's as I said in another post, that Hodgy is not goin to be re signed but if he is then I don't understand. Or are we moving Hodgy onto the wing full time because we aren't keeping Dallas. I want to know what's going on now, not in a few weeks!!!

Next season we are only allowed 3 overseas players on the quota so I'm not sure how we are going to sign all these players... does Seuseu have a link with the smaller islands and so is off quota? As it stands we have Dallas and Smith that might carry on, if Wiki, Gasnier and possibly Jones coming in, how are we going to fit them all in?

I know seuseu is off quota. i've heard a lot of people saying hodgson shouldnt get a new contract because of the state of his playing since his return. theres been a lot of rumours going round though anyone know if the coley one is true?

I like the idea of Gasnier, we need a world class centre to get the best out of Dallas or Carney. Good as our centres are, none are really world class (not even Gazza, these days).
I'd prefer to see a younger prop than Wiki though...we've had too many Aussies/Kiwis just coming over for 1 or 2 seasons at the end of their careers.

16 players off contract at the end of this season in the wigan club so someone is going if its true we have signed half of these players we are being linked with.dont worry about being over the quota for oversease players.all the so called foreigne players are actualy english! and if you say anythig else you are breaching there human rights!its a joke any club can sign any player and prove by harking back in the history books he's english.

It annoys me the bad press that Hodgy has been getting, he picked up an achilles injury against London pre-season and hasn't been back that long. He's not got it together yet and isn't playing in his best position IMO.

You look at his stats for last year... 35 games and 20 tries, our top try scorer. He can tackle and run with the ball, he just needs a bit of confidence. You look at a certain more experienced 26 year old that hasn't shown any outstanding performances yet and he gets fans support.

I don't think we need Gasnier, why do we need a big name on mega-money when we have two young centres in Aspinwall and Hodgy. Aspinwall is a superb, solid player, the next Gary Connolly... Hodgy needs to settle in a bit. We also have several players in Brown, Wild, O'Loughlin not to mention a few academy players that can also play centre. I certainly couldn't see any faults in the centres when we were controlling Keith Senior, the so-called best centre in SL and preventing Leeds from scoring in consecutive sets of six!

Gasnier would be an awsome signing, I bet dallas and carney would love to play outside him. Hodgson has no impact at all, we need more penatreation in the centre's. Gasnier can give us that, Aspinwall is a better player than hodgson is. He has alot more pace a better sidestep and is better with the ball, plus he can tackle and is better under the high ball. Wiki would be a real crowd pleaser for the short time he would be here should he sign. We would benefit greatly from a player who runs and tackles with the determination and aggretion he plays with. Hes an explosive forward, which is somthin we havnt had for a good while. Stacey jones is a truely world class scrum half, I would feel sorry for robinson should he sign, but that would be out weighed by the excitement of seeing stacey jones in a wigan shirt. SeuSeu has already signed for next season I understand.

I'm not knocking either Hodgson or Aspinwall, just saying that neither are truly top class - Gasnier is.

That was my point, but Aspinwall is the better of the 2 by far. Gasnier is what we have needed since Renouf left.
