I think Pat took a drop when his contract had expired and he wanted a new one.

if he is payed more than every one else that to me would be like a area manager taking the role but not filling the boots they would just get sacked not have an optition of take less pay it just doesnt seem right to me. if he was the best player in the world then by he would deserve that contract but he aint the best player in the world any more. and if pat richards can do it why not fielden especialy if he wants to see his club grow and becoming more competive for silverware. and if he took a cut and more of other senior player did then we would have better payed youths and still have the same money under the salary cap.

Go easy, make allowances for mistakes because under the present regime he is still a work in progress.

Be fair and give him a spell in the reserves or put him out on loan until he improves and overcomes his attacking and defensive shortcomings, his discipline improves and he develops some ballcarrying skills.
