Warrington 30% higher ticket sales than Wigan

Post by Ancientbutloyal »

On Radio Manchester's Rugby League hour last night it stated that The Rugby Football league had confirmed that Wire had sold 30% more tickets than Wigan for the SF.

Warrington have every reason to be optimistic and so I can understand why they have sold so many tickets. Even so this suggests that we are down to approx 5,000 supporters and if I was Ian Lenagan I would be concerned because if this is a reflection of the Wigan fan's becoming disillusioned, season ticket sales could be well down for next season. Unless we win the cup of course.

I cannot remember a time when Warrington have outsold Wigan for such a significant match

like i said in another thread, wire have sold their allocation to the glory hunters who only watch the "big" matches.
Saints are just wiganers who haven't fully evolved

RIP Mike Gregory, one of lifes real legends.

This is not good news for Wigan.

A lot of people are on Holiday that week. A lot of people have posted this on the forum.

The only excuss is the semi final is in a small town in Warrington!

Wire have been playing better rugby over the last 2 months and the fans are getting behind them. We are hopefully just finding our form.

I am sure that if it was a final we would out sell any club in the league.

I hate this though coz Wire are boasting that they have the best supports in the country and that ain't the case!

Wire beat us the last time we played a semi at Widnes. About playing better rugby, we have overleaped them in the table to 5th... but I can understand our awful start to the season contributing.

We have the second best home attendance and first best away attendances, i can't explain why wire have beat us.

It must be the novelty factor that wire have made it to a semi final :o

2004 semi they had far far more than just 30% more than us, i think they outnumbered us by 3 to 1. Most people I know who aren't going is because of the trouble last time and I fear this may well be the same this time with Wire fans in our stands. Bring your tin hats lads.

the game is only down the road for them and it is in our holiday weeks anyway

does not surprise me we have not sold as many tickets as them

i think the supporters should have had an end and side each
Wigan is and always will be a town of Cherry & White
