If I have read it right. No ban. The Wakey player suffers a fractured cheekbone. Yet less than a fortnight ago we were told that Howells ban was reduced because he did not cause an injury to Sam Tomkins.

We also have Richie Mathers up for possible suspension.

The disciplinary/judiciary really let RL down and it is probably the worst aspect of our sport.

How is this any different to what Newton did to Long?

He should get the same ban.

Disgraceful

It get's better;

http://www.therfl.co.uk/about/disciplin ... hp?id=1238
Player intentionally has a jab at the Wakefield player and as such is guilty of misconduct; however the Panel are giving him the benefit of the doubt that contact with the eye is accidental and as such consider that it is appropriate to deal with this matter by way of a caution

So punching is OK as long as it's not deliberately at the eye? Disgraceful.

This opens up all sorts of possibilities, wonder what a punch to the nose is worth? If you punch to the eye but hit the nose is that a ban because you aimed for the eye even though you missed?

What a wierd ruling!!

I cannot understand this at all makes no sense. Fielden got banned for raising a knee in the challenge which is a running style flaw yet a punch is a warning.

I`ve E mailed bootsnall and the RFL re this nonsense .
The RFL are not protecting players .
We have seen an increase in head high tackles and punching which is going unpunished . Smash someone in the eye causing a fractute you get nothing , yet if you touch a ref you get a 5 match ban . Unbelievable .
Who are these faceless unaccountable jokers , they don`t have the game at heart , and don`t realise what damage can be done to a player who has a short enough career as it is .

It was an act of plain thuggery that the RFL have again ignored.
