How the hell do they do it within Salary Cap???cpwigan wrote:On Radio Manchester. Unveiled tomorrow. Wire will pay a significant sum, thought to be £200,000 They are also expected to announce Atkins being signed and Solomona on a 12 month contract.

KW I would like to know that. Myler has signed on a fabulous congtract that dwarfs Sam Ts (A better player IMO) and by all accounts the overseas tax loophole has now been closed etc.
So you have Morley, Carvell, King, Briers, Myler, Monaghan on fantastic contracts. The Andersons, Hick, the second row who has played for England will all be on good money.

Re: Myler moved to Wire Confirmed
I had this conversation with a Wire supporter. Asked him how they can pay the players wages on the attendances they get.
He said its nothing to do with attendances. They have a millionaire owner so money is no object!
Does that mean the Chairman can pay wages from his own pocket to bypass Salary Cap considerations?

Re: Myler moved to Wire Confirmed
He can if he does so illegally (illegally as in breaching the RFL regulations) Under the cap how much money a club owner has is immaterial other than pay transfer fees.

Re: Myler moved to Wire Confirmed
something dodgy could be going on. Can the RFL view bank accounts of players? Is there anything to stop money being wired from the chairmans personal account to a players which isnt linked in anyway to the club? Would be like Lenagan meeting tomkins at penny flash with a briefcasecontaining £1,000,000... he could say he found it

Re: Myler moved to Wire Confirmed
Would it be illegal though? Surely the Salary Cap rules can only dictate what a CLUB spends on wages. Noone can dictate to a private individual what he does with his own money!!cpwigan wrote:He can if he does so illegally (illegally as in breaching the RFL regulations) Under the cap how much money a club owner has is immaterial other than pay transfer fees.

No you are not even allowed to give money to players for other items/uses without declaring it, employing players wives etc. Even 3rd party sponsorship is governed by strict rules.Kittwazzer wrote:Would it be illegal though? Strikes me Warrington just stick 2 fingers up at the RFL. I guess Whelan / Lindsay should have done the same rather than trying to argue they were acting within the rules.
Re: Myler moved to Wire Confirmed
A worry for me is that the England Coach being a club coach is having an undue influence on players inducing them to leave their clubs for Wire.
