Re: longs try
I thought it was short but I agree with giving it the benifit of the doubt, although noble has quoted Feka as saying it was definately short...
Wish list: Billy Slater please!!!!!!!!
Re: longs try
Even if it was on the line, which is debatable, he didn't to seem to be in control. Guttingcherrywarrior wrote:I thought it was short but I agree with giving it the benifit of the doubt, although noble has quoted Feka as saying it was definately short...
Re: longs try
On the line or not it doe's not really matter now.He did what any player would do and that is act like he had scored. And boy oh boy isn't he a bloody good actor. The real thief in this game is Ganson.Assisted by none other than Cummins and the Rfl.Could you imagine a match between Man U and Man City being officiated by a known Man U supporting ref.It just would not happen in the real world. Why did we not object to the appointment of Ganson in the first place? Could it be because we would consider Ganson to be biased toward the scouse gits? The blatant penalty given to stains for a so called ball steal when in actual fact the bas**ard dropped the bloody thing.Oh I could go on and on but whats the point? The games gone now and nothing will bring it back.Lets just hope that we learn from our mistakes ie allowing the reffing of our game by an obviously biased blind git.And hope for the return of the glory years under Maguire and Wayne.
Re: longs try
Who knows. The bigger mistake was to award a penalty wrongly to put Saints in that position. Long spotting and going at Feka was astute and whatever we may think of him as a person, at SL he is a very good halfback.
Mind you I thought the ball brushed Pat when George scored. I also think Longy made a second movement to put Joel's foot in touch once the tackle had been completed.
I do think the rule should change and you only score a try when you ground the ball over the try line as it is simply too difficult to know if the ball is on the line off the ground. I also think it would be quid pro quo and allow referees to make players follow the 2 feet rule in defence.

Re: longs try
Cherry that is my understanding also. You could in fact once the referee shouts held deliberately step in touch and then regain your correct position and play the ball. I once asked Robjoenz and he said not and he knows far more than I do on the rules.

Re: longs try
after watching re run, nothing to do with longy which was 50-50 imo, roberts is a joke when it comes to defending always out of position flying of his wing and by the way riddels distribution is shocking.

Re: longs try
My initial thought was he was short of the line, but watching the replay, I knew they were going to give it because of the "bennefit of doubt" rule. The tackle on Joel later on was a blatant penalty. Long knew exactly what he was doing, you could see the way he looked up at Ganson, to see which way he would give it. If's. but's and maybe's, had that penalty been given, it could have been a very different outcome. But it wasn't and that's just the way it goes. Like I've said in other posts, the difference between the two sides was the rub of the green.
