Wigan - Huddersfield venue change?

Post by Sutty »

Just read on the BBC website that Blackpool's opening game of the season has been switched to the DW stadium, due to improvement works at Blackpool's ground.
We are due to play Huddersfield at the DW stadium on Friday 13th August, I wonder what, if any, impact the roundball fairies fixture will have on our match on the Friday?

"The board would like to put on record its thanks to both Wigan Athletic FC and Wigan RL [rugby league] whose flexibility in the circumstances has been extremely helpful."

Switched to DW Stadium Sat 14/08/10 . We play Giants on the Frid 13/08/10. Any chance of DW causing us Grief again?

I hope not, I bet they bring up the same old pitch wrecking excuse again even though it is clearly football that causes the most damage especially in the goalkeepers area. It's not just Latics that complain about it though, the football media is the same. They seem to think the world revolves around them.

I thought they weren't allowed to play wihtin 24 hours of each other - wasn't this the reason we had to swap grounds to widnes that time in the play offs?

Where did you get that info as there's nothing on the website yet, I'm hoping we don't have to move or else I'm gonna have to miss it if it's shifted to Sunday

Couldn't we play it Thursday evening as neither team is involved in the cup semis on the previous weekend.

Would give us some extra rest for the following weekend as well.

Radio Lancashire apparently
BBC Radio Lancashire reports our Huddersfield Home Match has moved to Sun 15 Aug instead of Fri 13 Aug so Latics can play on the Saturday

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
