Should Pat Richards be in the running for...

Post by THE 18th Man »

BBC Sports Personaity Of The Year Award. i know it would never happen but considering the likes of Ricky Hatton and 'Sir' Chris Hoy are in the odds and have done nothing this year surley Pat should be in the odds aswell. just shows how little our sport is thought of whem a cyclist who won gold two years ago and a retired boxer get in ahead of the best Rugby League player of 2010

Previous Winners:

2009: Ryan Giggs
2008: Chris Hoy
2007: Joe Calzaghe
2006: Zara Phillips
2005: Andrew Flintoff
2004: Kelly Holmes
2003: Jonny Wilkinson
2002: Paula Radcliffe
2001: David Beckham
2000: Steve Redgrave

Hmmmm, i'm not sure but I think there's something Pat has missing from all the previous winners, can't quite put my finger on it though.......

i know, i know, but my main point is if kevin sinfield kicked a drop goal in the world cup final for us in 2008 would he have won the award. all im saying is that just becuase rugby league isnt the biggest sport in the country, it doesnt mean the players who perform should not get a mention. if Pat wins the man of steel award it means he has been voted as the best player in Super League yet his name wouldn't even be up there yet Ryan Giggs plays 4 matches and gets it and Chris Hoy and Ricky Hatton are in the odds for nothing

As there ever been a RL player BBC Sports Personality of the Year?
Ellery Hanley and/or Andy Farrel come to mind.
