Read my response to this sort of comment in the Wigan Leeds game thread. Cheating and ineffectual refereeing will ruin the game and turn it into soccer if it carries on.

Saints have won many a game with a last minute try and no one says they were not good enough to win the game. No one moaned when Rebouf put Rads in for a last minute winner v Bradford a few season ago. Perhaps Bradford were wrong NOT to tackle Rads before he got the ball?

I do agree Fujiman. This forum is very good for ideas and such, but because people can whinge, they do. Typical isn't it that you ask people not to whinge and the only response so far is a typical DaveO negative.

There are so many complaints here that it sometimes sounds like the Daily Mail, only with appalling spelling, and I'd like to think we could rise above it.

Yes, we weren't good enough last night, but we're not down and out. As a sporting occasion it was about as dramatic as they come, and could have gone either way.

I'll still be there on Friday and make myself hoarse (again)

There are plenty of others who agree with my stance. They just didn't start another thread to voice their opinion. Read the other threads which is where this discussion is already taking place.

Exactly my sentiments.

It's one thing to lose (as we have done this season) when we lose our way and our opponents play better.

It's quite another thing when our opponents set out to break as many rules as they can - culminating in a disgusting professional foul which prevents us the opportunity of scoring the game winning try. The player that committed this foul then play acted in order to avoid being sent off and having to face the disciplinary.

Perhaps we should have got a player to wear some brass knuckles and break mcguires jaw in the first minute? Or stamp on eastwoods leg when he was on the floor? Or throw repeated high shots on tackled players like fat boy ali? Perhaps we should have rocked the posts when sinfield was taking his conversion from the touchline?

Rules only work if everyone sticks to them - which leeds didn't. Rules only work if they are enforced correctly by the officials - they weren't.

As Dave said, there is a level of under-handed play creeping into rugby league, introduced by the likes of the leeds team - briers being another prime example of gamesmanship. Dissent is now continually used by leeds, wire and saints as part of their game plan to try and pressure (the already poor) officials. Should we just join in and help ruin the game? Of course not. As fans the only thing we can do is complain and make our voice heard. The alternative is just to bend over and take it. Which do you prefer?

I agree, Leeds cheated horribly, make no mistake.
But, I haven't read one thread about how Sam T cheated two penalties off Leeds tacklers when he was on the floor holding the tackling player so that he couldn't get off him.
If anyone genuinely believes that we are whiter than white, they are really looking through some cherry and white tinted spectacles.
I don't think we cheated in the way that Leeds did but we did contribute with our share of gamesmanship.

It's not whinging it is constructive feedback.

Leeds have had two big lifts in the last two games. Two decisions that have effectively won the game for them one sending off (Radford) and one cop-out (Buderus). On such crucial decisions are games won and lost. Reverse the referees and the decisions would have been reversed. Outcome - Leeds lose both games.

Having said that, and I hope I am proved wrong, we don't seem to have the mental toughness or knowhow to win the big games (this may come as our younger players gain experience and new players are recruited). We need to reduce the number of penalties awarded against us, play sensible rugby in our own half and revert back to our defensive patterns and technique that we successfully adopted earlier in the season.

I cannot see, for the life of me, why we continually had Prescott, Tuson and Farrell running at much bigger forwards when a booming Richards kick could have sent the Leeds six retreating into their own 25! The Leeds pack were out on their feet when the scores were tied late on, field position was crucial. That's were the likes of Deacon and Finch are invaluable.
