Huddersfield Game Postponed

Wigan Warriors U20's home fixture against Huddersfield, scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed.

The Wigan club were notified on Friday that the Giants could not raise a full team for this fixture. A new date will be announced in due course.

Apparently this match has been forfeited & the game handed to Wigan with a scoreline of 26 nil :exc:

An absolute disgrace, severe action should be taken against Huddersfield! If the Giants cannot raise 17 players for an under 20's game then there is something sadly wrong with the structure of the game.

What Hudds did is wrong but understandable. Several U20s are out on dual contract which is far better and sensible BUT what that should mean is Hudds play their U18's at 20's with their 16's at 18's.

IIRC Wigan secured top position by getting the default win. It is slightly amateurish though because anybody who has played amateur sport will have experienced club folding part way through a season and IT CAN affect placings etc for other clubs.

Your right, the game has been given to Wigan which means that our reserves have finished top of the Valvoline Cup.

This means that once we play Warrington away in the last reserves game of the season, they then play Warrington at home in the play-off's. If we win, we'll be in the final for yet another year. Good luck! :)

Huddersfield have called off 4 U20s matches this season thru' not being able to raise a team. Surely they could promote some U18s to fulfil the fixtures? The RFL should come down on them hard with a big fine as this is making a mockery of the competition.

They should indeed, that's exactly what we've done most of the season, with our lads out on dual reg. I think 10 of our U18's have played in the U20's already - and many of them have looked very good at that level, especially Russell, Carberry, Bridge & Burke.

Matty Russell in particular is definitely going to be a future star, and he's only just turned 18.

The RFl have put it down as an expected score as if we had played !!

Much like the football pools when games are postponed a perceived score is used
