It's a disgrace that we are not allowed to use our home ground to play friendlies surely it's about time we find our own ground

How much do you think it would cost to find and build a new ground, and where the funding come from?Robswarriors wrote:It's a disgrace that we are not allowed to use our home ground to play friendlies surely it's about time we find our own ground

Saints built a new ground where did they get there money from,i know it did not all come from selling the old ground, they got plenty of it from the eec, plus other sponsors. No straw damn us wrote:How much do you think it would cost to find and build a new ground, and where the funding come from?Robswarriors wrote:It's a disgrace that we are not allowed to use our home ground to play friendlies surely it's about time we find our own ground

Re: Pre Season Friendlies
None of it came from the EEC. The money was raised from the sale of Knowsley Road and funding from Tesco and the council. So how would Wigan fund a ground, and where would it be? They already have use of a perfectly adequate stadium at a fantastic rent of around £200K per season. So why and how would they want to buy a £25 million stadium just to for the sake of playing a couple of friendlies in. It would be financial suicide.bonnieboy wrote:Saints built a new ground where did they get there money from,i know it did not all come from selling the old ground, they got plenty of it from the eec, plus other sponsors. No straw damn us wrote:How much do you think it would cost to find and build a new ground, and where the funding come from?Robswarriors wrote:It's a disgrace that we are not allowed to use our home ground to play friendlies surely it's about time we find our own ground

We need our own ground if it is possible we always play second fiddle to the football, a couple of seasons ago we had to move our home tie to widnes and this season our play off game was brought a day forward to suitthe football, wehave to play our pre season friendlies all away because of thefootball schedule, it's a disgrace and should not be happening

Re: Pre Season Friendlies
So in over 10 seasons we've had at the JJB/DW staidum one or two games moved. Is that worth the £25 million it would cost to build a new ground, assuming of course that the council would 1) approve another stadium in the borough, and 2)find land to build it. And of course how do you think it would be funded? You need a reality check.Robswarriors wrote:We need our own ground if it is possible we always play second fiddle to the football, a couple of seasons ago we had to move our home tie to widnes and this season our play off game was brought a day forward to suitthe football, wehave to play our pre season friendlies all away because of thefootball schedule, it's a disgrace and should not be happening

There is talk it is going to be Leigh!!!!The Hoff wrote:Im hoping we get Saints for Lockers testimonial.
Not very happy about this, & have told Sean, as every other team always has us for their players testimonials eg: Jon Clarke, Lee Briers, Paul Deacon to name a few.
Plus, we aren't usually allowed to play testimonials at the DW stadium & you can't play a testimonial for one of your players at an away venue! So it will more than likely be held at Orrell!!
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
