Gelling is a Warrior

Post by josie andrews »

WIGAN have swooped to sign Anthony Gelling.
The giant centre — who has a colourful past after being sacked by Sydney Roosters last year for defecating in a hotel — will replace Joel Tomkins who is switching codes and joining Saracens.

New Warriors coach Shaun Wane sees 6ft 5in Gelling as a player he can mould into a devastating Super League centre.

The 21-year-old has been playing for Auckland Vulcans this season.

Wigan are also expected to confirm the capture of Welsh duo Gil Dudson and Ben Flower today.

The forwards impressed in Wales' Four Nations campaign and are part of the Warriors' attempt to corner the Welsh market following the collapse of Crusaders.

Winger Josh Charnley, 20, will also be handed an improved deal.

Nothing on the official web site about this yet but I like this bit:

"Winger Josh Charnley, 20, will also be handed an improved deal."

Quite right too, if correct.

Finchy 6 and Tommy 7.
The "Sam is a fullback" fans wont like this, but I would like to see Sam have a run out in the halves to prove how destructive he can be.

PM, Sam is a full back

Id quite like to see Tommy sharing the 9 with Mickey Mac and giving Mellor a shot this year!

I could make the obvious comment "what a load of.........." but I wont.
If Shaun thinks he can make him into a block-busting forward OK. Just hope he doesn't end up like Karl Pryce.
Now he was a load of .............!
