tickets for testimonial?

Post by FROM A TO B »

Less than 3 weeks to go yet nothing on the club site (that I can see) for how to get tickets for the 19th Jan game?
Any idea which stands will be open? Hudds only bring a mini bus at the best of times, so can't see the away end being open and although a testimonial, how many will come to a pre-season game? Personally I would only open one stand up at a time and if one sells out, open the next one.

Anyway, regardless of how many stands, when can I get a ticket????? :conf:

Only the West & South stands open.

Tickets are due to go on sale either Wednesday or Thursday!

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.

It would be interesting to know who arranged the game too be against the Giants.
If it is because no local clubs would take the fixture that is very poor.
Surely Widnes would have been up for it?
I cannot make the 240 mile round trip on a Thursday, so again, a poor choice for those of us outside the borough of Wigan that would have liked to show our support for Lockers. I assume this is to do with latics fixtures?
Any news on the testimonial Shirts Josie?

Re: tickets for testimonial? - Lockers Testimonial Tickets On Sale

Lockers Testimonial Tickets On Sale

Tickets for Sean O'Loughlin's testimonial game against Huddersfield Giants at the DW Stadium on Thursday 19th January are now on sale.

O'Loughlin, who is the club's longest serving player, is to celebrate his testimonial year in the game against Wigan's fellow Super League side, as well as by fundraising for the Wigan Youth Zone, Emma Hoolin Appeal and Wigan Alzheimer's Society.

The Warriors captain said,

"I feel very privileged and honoured to be granted a testimonial match at the DW Stadium. I'd like to thank everyone who has helped me along the way and I'm obviously hopeful for as big a turnout as possible for my testimonial match as it will bring even more support for the fantastic local charities that I am supporting. I look forward to seeing you all there."

O'Loughlin has played for the Warriors for a decade, making over 250 appearances, since making his first team debut for the side in 2002. He is a product of the Warriors successful Academy and Reserve sides after joining from local Club Wigan St Pats.

Sean had the honour of lifting both the Challenge Cup in 2011 at Wembley and the Grand Final Trophy at Old Trafford in 2010 as Club Captain.

He said he had chosen his three charities to ensure the benefits of the year were shared across all age groups, adding,

"I'd like businesses from across the region to help me raise money for these very worthwhile causes and to help make this a spectacular testimonial year."

Wigan Youth Zone is to be a purpose-built youth facility in the town centre. The facility will be prominently positioned for accessibility and designed to make an impact on the young people of Wigan and surrounding areas.

It is the brainchild of Wigan businessman Dave Whelan who, along with Martin and Bill Ainscough, has donated over half the development costs. The scheme is OnSide's first youth centre to be largely-funded by private sector money and will occupy new purpose-built accommodation at Mesnes Field in Wigan town centre.

The Youth Zone's development manager, Simon Baker, said,

"It will mean a lot to the young people of Wigan to see one of their heroes backing our plans - it's a massive boost to our ambitions and we're extremely grateful to Sean for supporting us."

The Emma Hoolin Appeal, meanwhile, is aiming to raise some funds to help pay for four-year-old Emma, a local girl, to have specialist treatment for an aggressive form of childhood cancer which is only available in Philadelphia .

Emma was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in February this year. Her best chance for treatment is a specialist antibody therapy developed at the Children's Hospital in the United States.

Wigan Alzheimer's Society, based in Waterside Drive in the town, helps to improve the quality of life for people suffering from dementia.

O'Loughlin's testimonial year is being led by a committee of supporters and a range of events are being held throughout the year.

The testimonial match takes place at 8pm on Thursday 19th January with unreserved seating availabile in the East and West Stands. Tickets are priced at £15 for adults and £5 concessions, and are now on sale from the DW Stadium Ticket Office, by phoning the Ticket Hotline on 0871 66-33-552 or online by [clicking here].

Widnes are playing at Saints on Friday the 20th.
Warrington are in Australia.
Wigan have agreed to play Salford at Salford to "open" their new stadium.
I guess Huddersfield is the closest Superleague club available.

Will tickets be available on the night?
I cant see much point getting them before if they are if its unreserved seating. Also I cant guarantee I can finish work in time and be at the mercy of the M6 or possible wintry weather
