Here I am and here is the thread you expected, SW Time.

Sorry this thread is a little late, I was traveling on Friday, Saturday and most of today.

Well, I'm pretty glad I couldn't get to my computer on Friday night as I've had the chance to reflect on my words before I type them. This way I don't throw any comments like "I told you SW was not up to the job when it matters" or "Get rid now" or "He can't win the players from the neck up"

Anyway, no matter how I try to word this thread, it appears that I am having a go at SW. Well, I am. I am in total agreement with cpwigan and the likes with his comments on an earlier post.

SW is passionate about Wigan and he wants the best for our club, this I totally accept and he does wear his heart on his sleeve. I admire that.

He is simply not good enough when it matters. Sure I have been quiet over the last 13 wins, but that does NOT make a good coach. Winning matches makes for great moral off and on the field and maintaining momentum is quite easy when you're "On a roll".

What does make a great coach is how he responds when the chips are down...when the club does suffer a defeat; it's how the coach picks them up;how he prepares them for the next game. A great coach makes the wrongs right inside the players heads. He makes the doubts vanish and replaces them with belief.

The reason Wigan buckled last year was not down to the playing staff. They needed a leader during the business end of the season; the time where points didn't matter; just the win to put them one step closer. They never had that leader.

Losing to Wire wasn't something for me to slate SW about, they are a tough and credible team. What I will slate him for is the loss to Cas one week later, that total lack of his ability to lead and steady the ship.

I do not agree with the first team playing staff and their injuries being to blame. Our kids are good enough and the depth of our club should carry that; like Leeds, Wire etc.

So, I'm not going to say I told you so, but I don't see a push from here to the GF. I hope I'm wrong, but as fan I have an opinion that SW is not the man for the Head Coach. (or Logan as a hooker  )

Logan didn't play - Micky Mac did ! Not sure which way you're 'winking?"

Logan's been playing better, actually improving as the season's gone on.

The kids are GOING to be good enough but right now that's just what they are, inexperience and all. I think it was it Jack Gibson who said you'd win nothing with kids !

Cas actually played the conditions far better than us - probably because they were more experienced, bigger with more grunt, made fewer mistakes, are an improving side with a really good coach (should be, at least, assistant to McNamara for W/Cup), and had 10 days recovery time.

Next few games should reveal how difficult (or not) post-Warrington actually was!

Everything was wrong Friday, there is no excuses and everyone was to blame. This includes the fans they never out sung us because we never sang, just stayed quiet while they insulted us and basically took the piss.
Terrible terrible night, best forgotten and now look forward to Bradford.

Whether you like SW or not, whether he is a good coach or not and whether he wins over the players from the neck above or not, the bottom line is, do we have the best 13/17 in the competition in terms of every department? Including talent, ability, strength, experience etc. if we do then SW is not doing a good enough job, of we don't then currently he is doing ok!!

He is referring to a different thread and previous comments re Logan for which he got the same amount of stick he'll no doubt get again here.

No let him carry on the conversation especially the bit re Logan Tomkins. And do not tell him he did not play on Friday.

Ohh posting about a game you did not go to and getting busted dam that was almost as funny as Gelling dropping the ball on the line in the first half.

For goodness sake get a grip. Top of the league, still in the Challenge Cup, ravaged with injuries and still complaining. We played Warrington when they were more or less full strength on MONDAY and then Cas on Friday a four day turnaround not a week. It was an exceptionally big ask of the team. Castleford weren't brilliant either. The real test will be this Friday when we play Bradford after the players have had a recouperation time.
