Wane confident Wigan can win at 'parochial' Castleford
Wigan coach Shaun Wane is anticipating a tough game at Castleford on Friday evening, not least because of the Tigers' passionate fans.
The amount of local pride on show at Cas can help to swing the game in the home team's favour, according to Wane.
"They'll be pretty similar to last year," he said.
"They don't risk much. They get to the end of sets and their completions are high.
"They defend in a good manner, so I'm expecting a real tough game.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

I totally agree he is not media savvy at all, but picking him up on this one is ridiculous!!medlocke wrote:Like i've said in the past, Wane needs to keep it shut, he is embarrassing

I am sure Ian Lenegan can pay for their 300 supporters to get down to the DW stadium if they can make their team win like that!

Sports move on, coaches adapt their styles, teams develop. Wigan under Wane are both repetitive and predictable. I wish we were more parochial.

Surely IL needs to control / limit the media interactions of Wane though.

He does. These days the club will want to put out at least one press story per day. Ideally with coach or player comments. Unfortunately thats the way it is and the way its going to stay. I imagine there are plenty of coaches who wish they could talk to the media less.

That's fine but why put out the same garbage!Mike wrote:He does. These days the club will want to put out at least one press story per day. Ideally with coach or player comments.
