Hughes or Patrick?
For anyone who was at the game, I noticed that both Jack Hughes and Larne patrick played today. At this stage of the season (I know it's relatively early days), which of the two would you like to be playing for us next season? I thought that it was an interesting piece of business when we made the 'swap' and was wondering if there's a clear cut leader at present.
Re: Hughes or Patrick?
Patrick had his best game in a Wigan shirt I thought. He made about 5 dangerous runs in the second half were he was managing to free his arms and was looking for support (that wasn't there). He needs to kick on from that now though.
As for the final decision it's a tricky one. I think Patrick is handy to have as he can play prop if needs be but he needs to start offering more. I think Hughes himself should look to move on in truth. He's not going to get in here without injuries.

Re: Hughes or Patrick?
I went today and to be honest Patrick is getting better but also Hughes has done better at the Giants than Patrick has done for us
IF YOU STRIKE ME DOWN I WILL BECOME MORE POWERFUL THAN YOU CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE
Re: Hughes or Patrick?
Did not go today but for me Hughes will need a big season if he is here next season or will be off loaded i feel. Back row we are more than covered but if he makes it as a centre then who knows.
Patrick now could stay with the marquee ruling freeing money on the cap. Both have the potential to be very good but we have players in those positions who are a better. We are missing Clubb atm for me out next prop this season and he is getting better.

Tough call, Patrick probably for versatility.

If versatility is the argument, i would have said Hughes as he can cover centre whereas Patrick can cover prop or 2nd row.cpwigan wrote:Tough call, Patrick probably for versatility.
Whatever happened to Billy McGinty's pineapple?

I know what you are saying East Stand. I prefer forwards as forwards. I dislike Joel playing centre now (Madge had him physically trained for centre because that was where he was going to play him). I think the strength / conditioning makes switch from back to forward or visa versa very difficult. Best I ever saw was Andy Goodway but different era.East Stand Faithful wrote:If versatility is the argument, i would have said Hughes as he can cover centre whereas Patrick can cover prop or 2nd row.cpwigan wrote:Tough call, Patrick probably for versatility.
I think Patrick covers more forward positions.
Re: Hughes or Patrick?
Patrick as we have not seen the best of him yet, he is getting better with every game and has pace which is a bonus if he breaks away. He is also playing 60 minutes a game which is vital in the modern game and tackles his heart out in every match.
