World Series Qualifiers
World Series Qualifiers
World Series qualification criteria confirmed
Grand Final, Challenge Cup winners and League Leaders to get 3 spots
English teams to face NRL sides next February
The First Utility Super League qualification process has been confirmed for the six-team World Club Series in 2016.
The annual clash between the First Utility Super League and NRL Telstra Premiership will involve the First Utility Super League Champions, the First Utility Super League League Leaders Shield Winners and the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup Winners.
The World Club Series will be hosted by First Utility Super League and played over three days from Friday February 19 to Sunday February 21, climaxing in the World Club Challenge to determine the world’s best Rugby League club.
If a Super League club was to win two of the three trophies this season then the third World Club Series place would go to the First Utility Super League runners up. Following on from the success of the newly expanded competition in 2015 which saw a total of 51,902 people attended the three games the 2016 competition is sure to be a highlight of the season.
Super League General Manager Blake Solly said: “The 2015 World Club Series was a huge success and Super League is really looking forward to hosting an even better event next year.
“Not only did we have great crowds, especially the sell-out World Club Challenge at St Helens, we also had over a two million people watch the World Club Series matches and highlights on Sky Sports and the BBC. I’m sure with the world class entertainment that will be on show in 2016, that figure will only increase.” said Solly
The schedule and ticketing details will be announced later this year once the identity of the clubs involved is confirmed.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Looking forward to it. Thought that apart from the surrender monkeys from St Helens, both us and wire put up a very decent show. Hopefully next time, provided we qualify, we can go one better.

Re: World Series Qualifiers
It will probably be a similar scenario to ours. GF winners, League Leaders, if not the GF winners or 2nd & 3rd position. That's if all the teams besides the GF winners want to come!dontshootthemessenger wrote:do we know which teams from Down Under will be chosen ?

It will be whoever they can get - like last year.josie andrews wrote:It will probably be a similar scenario to ours. GF winners, League Leaders, if not the GF winners or 2nd & 3rd position. Re: World Series Qualifiers
More teams from down under have indicated an interest and two of the three from last year are leading contenders for minor prem and grand final.
This had upped the stakes on the next 7 league games to me as we can't win the cup obviously so need to push for lls to guarantee our spot as early as possible

Re: World Series Qualifiers
It should just be a one off game between the Grand Final Winners of each country as the other two games are nothing more than friendlies to make money and at the same time, devalue the trophy game.

Re: World Series Qualifiers
friendlies that the fans love and enjoy going to (apart from your self of course) i loved the games last year and so did thousands of others :exc: Any excuse to get the NRL sides over here just to see their skill sets and plays LIVE is great .... money spinners yes, if you dont like it you dont have to go. Maybe hide under a rock and read a book, maybe "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie ?Whelley Warrior wrote:It should just be a one off game between the Grand Final Winners of each country as the other two games are nothing more than friendlies to make money and at the same time, devalue the trophy game.
