Benji Marshall available!

Surely this would be a marquee signing? And could sort our miss firing halves

Top player and a great entertainer but he will be 33 and he would command a massive wage. I think there are better and cheaper options available.

Wouldn't go for Benji but I'd be interested to know who are the cheaper and better options right now!

Take your pick...http://www.zerotackle.com/rugby-league/ ... /#halfback

I'm sure many would be unlikely from that list.

Benji would make a good marquee signing for someone but we have Sam T as a marquee player don't we?

Sam was signed before the marquee rule was approved so I always feel it is IL trying to save money by saying Sam is our marquee player.

Marshall on a short term contract would be good I think and may even add a few more onto the gate. This is something which for for a cost saving chairman who is making the team fly in and out of France on the same day for the Catalans game in an effort to save money, should interest him.

Not doubting your word but do you know for sure this is true?

This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever sorry. Whether or not you name him the marquee player has no impact on how much you have to pay him. It doesn't save you any money. What it does is it frees up other money under the cap that actually allows you to spend more. So that may mean more signings out an ability to give improved contacts to existing players. Naming a player that came through your system actually means you save more cap space on his salary than if you signed an overseas player as a marquee, so you can spend more on the rest of your squad that way.

I mean no offence, but your impression that naming a marquee player (which few clubs have done) is in some way a cost saving move means that I can't see credibility in saying flying in and out of France on the same day is cost saving - other big clubs have done it and no one said it was a cost thing for them.
