Wigan vs Hull thoughts?

Post by nathan_rugby »

So, another win and holding off another fightback...

How did we do?

I must admit, this always was going to be a hard game given our injuries, form and then losing Lockers so I am happy regardless. We did almost allow another comeback which seems to be a trend this year.

Quick watch of the highlights and all of the Hull tries scored down 1 side... Sarginson directly at fault for two tries by shirt grabbing and Williams directly at fault for another...

What caused the switch of Sarge to FB? Did it work?

Our tries didn't look thrilling. Flower spotted a gap, as did Williams, but the Smith grubber was poor initially but luckily nutmugged the Hull PLayer. Charnley try was good.

What is the issue with our attack? It is getting worse and worse.

It will never be any different as long as we have two half backs or should I say two Scrum Half's not gelling together as they should be and no proper Stand Off like other clubs have to create play.

Now even got another Scrum Half playing permently at Hooker/Dummy Half instead of a specialist one.

The thing with the potential comebacks which has pleased me is we have actually gone on to score another try against Salford and now Hull to win the games, showing great character in my opinion.

Not seen the game but considering our situation and the late withdrawal of our captain it must be considered a good win especially, like others I wasn't expecting a win. Out of interest who took over the role of captain. Anyone?

If you stick to the facts it was the Hull halfbacks that failed! FAR MORE POSSESSION AND FIELD POSITION. Never seen halfbacks who would do amazing with as little possession and field position as the Wigan halves had last night YET both made a difference!

Groundhog Day. We seem to be unable to hold onto and improve a winning position and if we concede one try then more will follow.

It might just be about coaching and no, I'm not calling for the coach's head after 4 straight wins but much like Brian Noble, I'm not sure SW has another level to go to so that we can change and stop this reoccurring.

That try from Hull players foot looked suspiciously very much in touch!
