Needing aggression

Post by LooseHead »

I never thought Id say this of a Shaun Wane side but last week especially there was no aggression whatsoever in the pack. It's been diminishing ever since McIllorum got injured - there's nobody who would make the opposing forwards think twice before taking a ball in. Last week we treated Scott Taylor with awe, rather than anyone bothering trying to knock him off his game.

Mossop and Flower are both shadows of who they used to be in terms of aggression, Joel T is technically awful and is a penalty machine without playing fired up, Clubb can bring it in but only for 20mins and beyond that there's nothing. Tautai, for all his rushing about, doesnt seem to have a nasty streak. Bateman has it in him (remember his battles with Peacock?) but doesn't show it much.

It's not about being dirty, its about winning the mental battle of the middle of the pitch - talking, hitting hard, leading others. We've nowt at the moment but it's needed.

It comes down to poor players

Mossop was starting to pick up but last few games has dipped right back into a player who ambles through games makes the odd half hearted run followed by turning into a ghost in defense.

Flower hasn't been the same this year but I feel like he might be carrying a knock - on regular form he is our best forward

TT is a prop version of Anthony gelling when he first joined us

Joel T must have excellent smelling armpits that he feels like he needs to share with the rest of superleague because every tackle is too the head

Clubb and Bateman have been the saving grace - I like club he reminds me of a Neil cowie type player rough and ready and always dishing it and Bateman well without him we would be much further down the league
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure

We've missed Farrell for his tackling. He's relentless and this side of his game is often overlooked.

O'Loughlin can be a beast in the tackle, but he had a shocker against Hull. I'm sure he wasn't 50% fit for that match. We need him back closer to full fitness ASAP.

Sam Powell has been putting in a lot of work in terms of tackles. Think he's only second behind Houghton in the league for the number of tackles made this season. But he's not an 'enforcer' like McIlorum.

Footballers spend 90 minutes pretending they're injured. Rugby League players spend 80 minutes pretending they're not.

Oppostion players have a cushy rest when tackled or run at by Farrel . Warrington will target our backrow and run over it without mercy. And on our own line twice this year, one against Saints,he has failed to stop a decent prop on our own line ,or held him up for long enough,to stop the try. Since we beat Warrington by youth and pace to win the GF,this has been the case. Wane is the problem..

So Farrell is the problem, or Wane? You don't make a lot of sense.
