Re: Greg Burke
I thought he was pretty strong v Catalan game, his best is yet to come but I think he needs to move away to get the game time he needs.
Re: Greg Burke
Sooner than later. Probably when FPN arrives.
Re: Greg Burke
He hasn't kicked on after the loan to KR unfortunately.

Sad, but correct!markill wrote:He hasn't kicked on after the loan to KR unfortunately.
Re: Greg Burke
Pack wise we are very strong and now with the emergence of Sutton in the 2nd row Burke was going to be no more than a sub/squad player and unfortunately he is too old now to do that. He needs to go so he can play regularly and maybe kick on and improve.
But he is a decent player in positions where we are very strong. Pity he is not a centre.

Re: Greg Burke
Actually what make Wigan stronger than other clubs is the quality of those players that step in following injuries. Sam P, Burke and several others are far better than what Sainnts, Leeds etc can call upon.
Burke is a victim of circumstance. His contract renewal came up and increased his pay significantly at the point FPN became available. Moreover, whilst great for Wigan to have in reserve it is no good for Burke to be playing 10/15 minutes here and there. Wigan would keep him if they could BTW.
Ged Byrne, Sam Panapa in a salary cap free era.

Re: Greg Burke
Last game for Wigan last night sadly. Has been immense in back up.
Sorry to see an academy player leave, but as has been said circumstances & his contract being up.
I wish him well at Widnes ????

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
