I suspect next season will tell us if he can get back to his best. That knee injury takes more getting over than one might think.

If he is fit he's lost a yard of pace ,if he's carrying a knock but can play why is he at fullback where he's exposed?

I put it in the game thread.
IMO Sam is a better all round layer than when he left but hopefully he can either ASAP or in 2017 find the zip and off the cuff magic that won games which is what he is paid a lot of money to do.

Sam's defence is currently miles better than what it was when he left for new Zealand, the fact he's opting to pass the ball rather than take on the line suggests he is either carrying an injury or not 100% fit.

We've a lot of busted players out there, Sam being one of them. What us mere mortals have got to realise is that most of us would not get out of an hospital bed with their injuries let alone play rugby!
