Tomkins
I see its confirmed now (not that there was any doubt) that he will miss the start of the season (again).
Whats worst Wane came out with the dread "its complicated" when he said they have no idea when he will be back

Re: Tomkins
So I can see the reasoning to signing Escare now - they must have had these doubts over Sam for some time now. At least it gives a new FB a good long pre season to get used to the systems and defence patterns in time for the first match, instead of like last year, they kept trying 2 or 3 players to fit the position, which doesn't help with consistency.

Re: Tomkins
Its not looking good is it,most,if not all were prepared to give Tomkins last season to get thing right, even when it was clear he was a shadow of his former self everyone still gave him time that he needed, but with this injury i don't know the words "injury prone" are starting to form in the mind.

Re: Tomkins
Out of his last 5 seasons he's missed huge amounts of game time in 4 if you take it he will be out for a good chunk of it
im pleased in a way that escare will get a good chance to prove himself

Re: Tomkins
Does anyone Actually know what he's done, and how he did it?? Obviously a good rumour going around, but is there any truth in it?
Thanks

Think his salary should be on a retainer basis at this rate!
We could have used his "marquee" salary for keeping George Williams if the rumours are true!

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.

Re: Tomkins
I always thought Sam coming back wouldn't be the same. If he struggles to get back to full fitness after this injury, Wigan have to look at other options.
It's a shame but he is stopping another player coming to the club, who you would like to think would be injury free.
Here's hoping that Sam can prove us wrong and he can get back to full fitness.

Re: Tomkins
Was his contract for 3 years? Meaning he is likely to miss around half of it at least if this trend continues
Thing is the foot injury is a new injury which in fairness couldn't have been predicted but they knew he would miss a lot of last season gave him the money anyway, now it looks like 2 years he's gonna be drawing the mega bucks while sat on his phone in the stands
