Got something to discuss about RL in general? Then this is the place to post it.

Cas v Saints off . Cas can't raise a team

Getting farcical now . Game awarded 24-0 to Saints. Superleague teams not being able to muster 17 players is unbelievable . More a case of don't want to raise a team and lets protect our guys before the Cup final

ST HELENS AWARDED WIN AFTER CASTLEFORD CANCELLATION

Post by josie andrews »

The RFL has released the following statement:

The Betfred Super League fixture between Castleford Tigers and St Helens scheduled for Wednesday night (June 30) has been cancelled, because an unusual range of circumstances have left Castleford unable to field a 17-man squad for the match.

In addition to a lengthy injury list among their senior squad, the Tigers have a number of young players with first team experience unavailable for selection as close contacts of a single Covid-19 positive – and separately, their Academy squad have all been advised to isolate as a result of two further positive tests.

The match has been awarded to St Helens with a 24-0 victory because Castleford do not meet the threshold for a postponement under the Covid-19 framework of seven senior players unavailable as a direct result of positive tests or as close contacts.

Cas v stains

Stains have been awarded the game 24-0 because cas can’t field a team
In addition to their injury list there are a number of young cas players with first team experience who can’t take part due to COVID isolations but there aren’t enough for them to be able to call off the match without a forfeit due to it being less than seven players isolated due to covid symptoms or as close contacts

The thing is we are also struggling with injuries & when Huddersfield called off our game with them why weren’t we awarded the win?

Is it because Giants have rearranged this game v us?

Saints awarded a 24.0 win

Stains have been awarded a win because Cas can only name a 14 man squad

And both clubs will have full teams out for the Challenge Cup final! Convenient 😡
