Sam Powell wants to see out career with hometown club Wigan

Post by josie andrews »

Sam Powell is keen to remain with Wigan for the remainder of his career, he told Love Rugby League.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

I'm sure he's said that before publicly, hasn't he? I don't think I'm imagining it, but at my age it's possible...

Anyway, I certainly have no problem with it, as with Tommy.

Should leave but will be in and around wigan forever as part of the inner circle

I fear it’s going to be years till wigan have a top hooker I’m not sure O’Neil is the answer either tbh
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure

I'm not fully convinced either, but he has shown promising signs, and has plenty of time to improve further. I think dummy-half is the least of our issues right now.

This is telling us nothing we didn’t know. He will be given the 9 shirt for life. Having had a glimpse of life after him, and very enjoyable and successful it has been as well, we will be waiting up to a decade for an attacking hooker. Still, we beat Saints and won the cup in that all too brief period, so we have some memories to cherish in years ahead.

Has it been that different with O Neil?

Don’t get me wrong I’d love an attacking hooker for once and maybe sacrifice a bit in defence…

Could move to the 2 hooker method like when Powell was coming into the team.

O'Neil on first then when we need to steady the line move to Powell.
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.
