The forward has impressed in recent weeks but is off-contract at the end of the season.
Matt Peet has praised Wigan Warriors prop Paddy Mago following his form - but admitted the club has yet to offer him a new contract. The powerhouse prop was excellent in their victory over Catalans Dragons, a win that moved them to within two points of Super League's summit.
Mago joined the Warriors from South Sydney Rabbitohs last year and has gone on to make 52 appearances for the club since his arrival. However, he is now in the final months of his initial deal, leaving his future a matter of uncertainty.
His form has improved recently. He has made over 100 metres in four of his last five appearances and averaged 12 metres per carry in France. That resulted in praise from his head coach.
"Basically, he's playing better than he was, which is a credit to him and his hard work," Peet said. "He's playing well so he's playing longer minutes. He's committed, playing the kind of game that we want him to, his consistency in his defence and effort areas and obviously, he's devastating when he's carrying the ball. Lots to be pleased about, Paddy is aware we're made up with the way that he's playing and he's a popular member of this team, so long may it continue."
Peet continued: "I'd love to say he's found some secret recipe but absolutely not, he's just been playing really well and the middles around him as helped him, the form of the team maybe. He's probably got that confidence and clarity about how we want him to play."
When asked about Mago's future, Peet confirmed: "He's not got an offer from us at the moment, that's not the end of the line for us and him, we're talking all the time. But we're not clear and we've not much time now so we'll be making a decision."

Matt Peet declares Wigan Warriors' Patrick Mago contract stance after good form
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

I thought he'd got a one year option on top of his original two year deal.
We've already signed three props already with Dupree, Chan & Walters.
There's been rumours for some time that we've got one or two more players incoming so perhaps, as the club should be, they are aiming to improve on what we've got.

Feel we’ll have already used his overseas quota spot on a new player.
Shame he’s picked up his ideas too late.
