Albert Goldthorpe Medal Standings after 11 rounds of Super League
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

So salford have 4 in there compared to wigans 1?.Just shows what a crappy, bent system it is.It rewards players for standing out in poor teams but doesnt punish them for underperforming in poor teamsjosie andrews wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2024 10:15 am SALFORD RED DEVILS halfback Marc Sneyd continues to lead the Albert Goldthorpe Medal standings by some way after eleven rounds of Super League.

Exactly the same when Brodie Croft ‘pinched’ the Man of Steel from Jai Field!!Firestarter wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2024 10:22 amSo salford have 4 in there compared to wigans 1?.Just shows what a crappy, bent system it is.It rewards players for standing out in poor teams but doesnt punish them for underperforming in poor teamsjosie andrews wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2024 10:15 am SALFORD RED DEVILS halfback Marc Sneyd continues to lead the Albert Goldthorpe Medal standings by some way after eleven rounds of Super League.

Agree 100% its a nonsense system teams with quality all round just get points shared out rather than one standout . Dislike them as I do to have zero Stains players in that list sort of proves the point.

salford whitewash at this rate
Yes, he's a good player, but i posted recently in another thread that there's a reason he never got a gig at Wigan, Saints, Leeds, Wire, and thats because he's as his level at Salford / Hull. However, looking at his overall stats 1 try and 10 assists, even Jack Welsby is 9 tries and 8 assists, but not even in the running
and as others have said, just shows that stand out in a lesser side and you are more likely to score points than star players elsewhere

Also MOS used to be dominated by forwards, mainly second row, loose and hookers if I remember correclty. A lot of credit was given for workrate (or coming on for 20 minutes a match in the case of Roby vs Trent
). Looks like that era is over, and the stand out players are going to be mostly creative backs from here on out.
