Welsby
I've just watched the game back and couldn't believe that the commentators didn't give him any stick for his behaviour after his try. He could have started a riot baiting the crowd like that. I'm sure Sam Tomkins was fined for something similar against Leeds in the past. I understand that players get wound up and a bit of a reaction from them can be forgiven but we have to draw the line somewhere. He was lucky that some (inebriated?) Wigan fan didn't jump onto the pitch and smack him.

He's a big Latics fan, one of those that hate Wigan Warriors more than they love the tics. Think he just made a clown of himself.
Re: Welsby
Probably the only time in the game he lifted his head up.
Re: Welsby
I dislike Welsby because a) he plays for Saints obviously b) he is from Wigan but seems to want to pretend he isn't and c) his petulance. However, I have no problem at all with him celebrating the way he did. He absolutely earned the right to do that and it all adds to the pantomime of the game. We need more of that sort of thing, players who we love to hate and want to put back in their box are as much a draw as our own favourites.
Edwards, Offiah, Tomkins and numerous others revelled in goading the crowd over the years, can't complain when the likes of Welsby, Newman and Williams do the same back. It just makes victory all the sweeter when it happens

Re: Welsby
I thought he was reacting to the song that the South stand was singing about him. I am not going to repeat it here, suffice to say it wasn't complimentary and was similar to one Man United fans used to sing about Arsene Wenger, the one that was so bad it caused Sir Alex to step in and ask them to cease and desist.

Re: Welsby
He is arrogant and will get rewarded with a broken nose if he keeps up the childish behaviour.
Re: Welsby
My worry was, he's get drenched in beer. Fortunately, that didn't happen.
Re: Welsby
Fine him for what exactly? Edward’s,Offiah,Tomkins used to do it regularly .personally I like it as it gets the crowd on their feet , plus you can’t beat a good pantomime villain. We need to unearth one from somewhere.
