Kyle Eastmond joins Warrington Wolves coaching staff

Post by josie andrews »

HAVING attempted to sign him multiple times during his playing career, Warrington Wolves have finally brought Kyle Eastmond to The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

The Warrington Guardian understands the former dual-code international has temporarily joined Sam Burgess’ coaching staff for a short spell as he makes strides towards an off-field role in the game.

It is thought Eastmond has taken up a skills coaching role with a primary focus on working with the squad’s younger players and will not play an active part in the matchday coaching set-up.

Eastmond is a former teammate of Burgess in both codes – the two played together four times for England in league during the 2009 Four Nations and then again in union with Bath during the Wire head coach's brief spell in the 15-man code.

During his time in league with St Helens and when a return to his original code was mooted in 2021, the half-back was the subject of several attempts from Warrington to secure his services without success.

He eventually joined Leeds Rhinos in 2021 but after just two appearances for the club, he announced his retirement from the professional game aged just 31.

Last year, he was briefly part of the coaching staff at union side Jersey Reds before they went into liquidation in September.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
