Peet nominated for Coach of the Year

Post by josie andrews »

MATT PEET IS AMONG FOUR NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2024 BETFRED SUPER LEAGUE COACH OF THE YEAR AWARD.

The Warriors head coach, who has guided Wigan to back-to-back League Leaders’ Shields this year alongside wins in the Betfred World Club Challenge and Challenge Cup, has been nominated with Willie Peters (Hull KR), Mike Eccles (London Broncos) and Paul Rowley (Salford Red Devils).

It is a third consecutive nomination for Peet and Rowley whilst Peters, who secured a second placed finish with the Robins, and Eccles, who was named Betfred Championship Coach of the Year in 2023 after steering the Broncos to promotion, have been nominated for the first time.

Peet won the award in his first season as Warriors head coach in 2022 before Adrian Lam was named Coach of the Year in 2023 after guiding Leigh Leopards to a fifth place finish on their Super League return.

The winner will be announced at Rugby League’s Awards Night next Tuesday (October 8) at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Not sure about the Broncos one, I understand they have come up with virtually the same team and have won a game or two, but not sure about coach of the year, I agree with the rest, unless I am missing something
