Warrington Wolves director subject to alleged punch at Hull KR

Post by josie andrews »

AN investigation has been launched after a Warrington Wolves director was subjected to an alleged assault during Friday’s Super League semi-final at Hull KR.

Norman Summers was left with blood pouring from his face and a black eye after apparently being punched in the face by a spectator during the first half of the game.

Mr Summers was sat with several of his fellow Wire directors in the Roger Millward West Stand as his side attempted to reach the Super League Grand Final, with the incident said to have occurred just before half time in full view of several of the Hull KR squad’s family members and members of the media.

Having received treatment for his injuries, Mr Summers was able to return to his seat for the second half as The Wire were beaten 10-8 by the Robins and was in good spirits as he left the ground.

Hull KR are understood to be reviewing CCTV footage of the incident in order to find the culprit, who faces a potential ban from Craven Park should any offence be proven.

Warrington Wolves and the RFL have lent their co-operation to the investigation, with Humberside Police also said to be involved.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
