WWE legend’s Wigan Warriors links revealed with remarkable club gesture detailed

Post by josie andrews »

WWE icon Jake ‘the Snake’ Roberts’ love for Wigan Warriors has come to the fore again on social media over the last few days, and his long-standing connection to the club is a pretty remarkable one.

Back in 1998, Roberts popped up on TV screens donning a blue and white Wigan away shirt during a ‘November to Remember’ pay-per-view event.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Jake The Snake if he did not have his demons would have been mentioned in the same breath as Austin, Hogan, Flair and Rock. An incredible talent on the mic. Maybe when AEW comes here in August the club Josie might want to get him here and get him to do team announcements better still golden gamble star prize Damien.

Btw Damien was his python

The only guy i know who had a subject at school.named after him, we used to call woodwork DDT instead of CDT, that was his finisher, plus when I was a lad we'd get a worm and put it on you're opposition when we were wrestling on the meadow and pretend the worm was Damien biting Macho Man!, the guy is one of a very few still al9ve from that period, he's lucky to be alive if you ever watched his documentary, he probably kept Columbia's economy afloat when he was using.
I always knew that I liked this place, you don't have to look to far to find a friendly face, I feel alive when I'm walking on this street, I feel the heart of this city pounding underneath my feet, yeah if the world keeps spinning round and round this is were it all goes down, down, down, THAT'S WHY I LOVE THIS TOWN!.

Heard about Jake the Snake on a podcast today - apparently he hated snakes and was pretty afraid of them, but was stoned when he came up with the suggestion for his character and the producers held him to it 😅

His snakes gave some of his fellow wrestlers pretty bad bites and injuries, mad that it was allowed to happen 🤯

If you think they were mad it's nothing compared what Jake's Cobra yes Cobra (deranged I believe) did to Macho Man Randy Savage in a match. The story even darker when Macho Man would only do it if Jake got bit first in the back, which he did.

For ppl who think Jake was just off his head need to check his background of why he had a dark childhood to say the least

One guy saved him Diamond Dallas Page (DDP) never gave up took him in got Jake sober and turned his life around.

Wasn't there a documentary about that, I'm sure he tried saving Razor Ramon as well

Yes it's especially sad when the phone him and he is drunk. Both were not just great wrestlers but both had qualities to make them coaches and agents for wrestlers. He managed to help Razor but Razor could not fight his addiction.

Scott Hall also had severe mental issues stemming from when he killed someone who tried to kill him. He had a disagreement with someone in a bar when he was 25 who went to pull a gun later on when they were outside. Scott took the gun and shot the guy in the head in self defence.
