I don't say this very often...

Post by Matthew »

I am and have been a die hard Wigan fan for a great many years and therefore have never liked saints (or the bulls much either - unless they are playing saints). I have criticised them and their fans many times in these very pages (ask Nierin).

However I would just like to say that the minute's silence that took place before the season opener with the bulls was a tribute to both the clubs involved and Rugby League in general. I can never imagine the same happening in football. Not a word was heard and I felt very proud to be a follower of this great sport.

Friday night proved that no matter what the rivalry, some things are bigger than sport

Interviewer: So that obviously means that you're not going to St Helens and you're not going to Leeds?

Frano: I don't know why I would ever want to go to St Helens or Leeds

I've got to say you were right about the minutes silence. I sat, like many others at home thinking that St. Helens fans would spoil the respect made by the players. I thought the sound on my tv was on mute because it upheld by every person in the stadium.

Well done to every person on the terraces that night.
